Today was one of those days for me. You see, our sweet 22 year old daughter had to have her gallbladder out today, something we just found out about last Friday. So over the weekend it was a whirlwind of activity around here trying to get things ready for her impending surgery and recovery.
We had given her some furniture for her first apartment when she moved out last August, and her bed was one of the pieces we sent with her. So on Saturday we were off on the hunt for a new bed and mattress set so that she would have some place to recover after her surgery.
Today was a very long day, mostly for her of course, but also for a very nervous Mr. Tide and myself. I'm a worry wart by nature, I come from a long line of worry warts actually. So we were very relieved when the surgeon came in to say that things had gone well and that, although her gallbladder was really quite bad, she expected her to have a slow but fairly normal recovery from it all! PHEW! I think our sighs could be heard all around the hospital!
When I got home late this evening, I was greeted by all of the wonderful well wishes for our daughter that I had received from friends from all around the globe. Forum friends, Facebook friends, and lots of wonderful emails from my bloggy friends who knew she was having surgery.
I know that those well wishes and prayers carried our daughter through her procedure on the wings of a dove! So to all of you who sent healing thoughts and prayers I am truly thankful and grateful. And I'm also thankful that my sweet baby girl, who is now a wonderful woman, is resting comfortably just a few feet away!
I'm so glad she's okay! And so glad you can stop worrying now!
ReplyDeleteHave a restful night, sounds like things are going to be fine for you all...healthy wishes coming your way!
ReplyDeleteSo glad that everything went smoothly and your daughter is doing well. With such a great mom to take care of her, she'll be up and around in no time! And I'm sure both of your sweet puppies will be more than happy to lie around with her in the meantime! :)
ReplyDeleteHoping for a speedy recovery for your sweet baby girl. I know she's 22, but she will always be your sweet baby girl, and I know that you are so happy that you are able to be there to care for her. Kathy
ReplyDeleteOh I am so happy to hear that all went well today Kat! Sending you both a huge warm Australian hug. Take care of both of you!!! ~ Tina xx
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad things went well. A few years ago, I found out on a Wednesday that I was having mine out on Friday...so, I know the feeling! I actually went out to lunch (walking slowly, eating plain chicken) the Monday after surgery. Recovery wasn't too bad, at least for me. I hope it is the same for your daughter.

As a missing galbladder gal...I am glad she is doing well. Here's to a smooth recovery.
ReplyDeleteSo good to hear everything went smooth Kat! I, too came from a long line of worry warts! When I read that in your post, I had to chuckle because my Grammie said to me when I was still quite young "Don't grow up to be a worry wart like your old Grammie is!" Could we maybe be related somewhere along the line??? Enjoy your evening Kat with your sweet baby girl! ~Lili
