<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ivlKn_YZ02w/VJM5_EuEBAI/AAAAAAAAOb0/jbrGyXKJa3E/s1600/Kat%2BWarren%2BPhotography-IMG_2467-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ivlKn_YZ02w/VJM5_EuEBAI/AAAAAAAAOb0/jbrGyXKJa3E/s1600/Kat%2BWarren%2BPhotography-IMG_2467-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Can you believe that Hanukkah started yesterday and it's nearly Christmas already?!!! Honestly, I don't know where the time goes, but here we are, knee deep in one of the most hectic times of the year.<br />
<br />
During the holidays, we are often so focused on giving to others that we completely forget to take care of ourselves, leaving us tired and sometimes even a little cranky when it's all said and done.<br />
<br />
This year I have made sure to not only focus on those I love, and those in need, but to also do a little self loving along the way.<br />
<br />
After years of eating green and as healthful as possible, it finally dawned on me that maybe what I was putting "on" me wasn't helping me to feel my best. About six months ago, I started my quest into the world of green beauty, and for those of you who haven't gone there yet, be prepared, it's a happy rabbit hole to fall into, but also a confusing one.<br />
<br />
I decided that for my birthday, which was on the 8th, and for Christmas, I would ask for products that keep me sane and feeling my best. Listed in this post are just a few of the beautiful products available to green beauty conscious consumers, but I feel like they deserve a special shout out because of their wonderful ingredients, amazing results, and incredible customer service.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-dC9thBvzOc0/VJM5_b3Y5vI/AAAAAAAAOb4/pJuRR_9YVDw/s1600/Kat%2BWarren%2BPhotography-IMG_2468-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-dC9thBvzOc0/VJM5_b3Y5vI/AAAAAAAAOb4/pJuRR_9YVDw/s1600/Kat%2BWarren%2BPhotography-IMG_2468-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<a href="http://www.starkskincare.com/collections/frontpage" target="_blank">Stark Skincare's White Willow Bark Perfecting Tonic</a> will be a mainstay in my green beauty arsenal for many years to come. It's my first foray into this wonderful company which is based in Canada. White Willow has many healing properties and when I apply this toner after washing my face, both morning and night, I love the way it tightens my skin ever so slightly and helps combat oiliness throughout the day.<br />
<br />
It may be my first product by Stark, but it surely won't be my last! I have my eye on their Neroli Midnight Oil!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wzAqOy2TKQc/VJM5_16YZwI/AAAAAAAAOcE/Mh96K81KSbs/s1600/Kat%2BWarren%2BPhotography-IMG_2473-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wzAqOy2TKQc/VJM5_16YZwI/AAAAAAAAOcE/Mh96K81KSbs/s1600/Kat%2BWarren%2BPhotography-IMG_2473-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Another great green beauty company I've come to depend on is <a href="http://www.annmariegianni.com/" target="_blank">Annmarie Gianni</a>. I dipped my toe into this company with their great sample kits awhile back. You can order a <a href="http://shop.annmariegianni.com/Sample-Kits_c_52.html" target="_blank">small sample kit</a> for $10 to see which one works best for you (I ordered 2) and then if you decide to order more of their products, they give you a $10 off coupon towards your purchase...score! For each kit you order, you get a $10 off coupon, which is great!<br />
<br />
I ended up mixing and matching full size items from each of the kits I purchased. I picked the Herbal Facial Oil for acne prone skin...yes, I still have hormonal acne to deal with, but this oil is making that issue a thing of the past! Some may not love the smell, it's a bit earthy, but I don't mind it at all, and the results are well worth it.<br />
<br />
When I looked into green beauty, I found that nearly everyone was touting oils for pretty much any skin type. For those of us with combination skin, or who are acne prone, the idea of putting oil on your face is a frightening concept, but I'm here to tell you that it works! Some oils work better than others for certain skin types, so having the ability to sample products is a great way of not making a costly mistake.<br />
<br />
The herbal facial oil is my go to after I cleanse and tone, and it is a perfect moisturizer for both day and night.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Vh0NMGEP6S0/VJM6AWtZ0jI/AAAAAAAAOcY/ieeFZdujBd0/s1600/Kat%2BWarren%2BPhotography-IMG_2475-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Vh0NMGEP6S0/VJM6AWtZ0jI/AAAAAAAAOcY/ieeFZdujBd0/s1600/Kat%2BWarren%2BPhotography-IMG_2475-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
My daughter gave me an Annmarie Gianni gift card for my birthday, so I indulged in two more products I'd had my eye on. The Annmarie Dead Sea Facial Scrub seemed to get high praise from beauty bloggers and regular folks like me alike, so I ordered it. Let's just say that I've been a little remiss in exfoliating with scrubs, but that is now a thing of the past. This stuff is amazing!<br />
<br />
It leaves my face feeling like buttah!!!...smooth, hydrated, and oh so touchable. Really, I balked at the price, but after looking at the ingredient list, and trying to source stuff on my own, it just made sense to order it, and I haven't regretted it for one minute. It's another must have for me now.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xF85DD8wvZA/VJM6AoISDDI/AAAAAAAAOcU/MRHK1Pgq184/s1600/Kat%2BWarren%2BPhotography-IMG_2478-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xF85DD8wvZA/VJM6AoISDDI/AAAAAAAAOcU/MRHK1Pgq184/s1600/Kat%2BWarren%2BPhotography-IMG_2478-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I also ordered the Annmarie Gianni Neroli Toning Mist. I had received it in one of the sample kits and I was really sad when it ran out. The smell alone is worth the ticket of admission. Neroli is supposed to be wonderful for smoothing fine lines and has aromatherapy properties which bring about a sense of calm and well being. I can attest to the calm and well being, and I'll keep you posted about the reduction in wrinkles and fine lines as I haven't been using it long enough to comment on that.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
If you want to indulge your senses, and you love the smell of orange blossoms, this is the toner for you!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-69css11vK1Q/VJM6Aq6nW2I/AAAAAAAAOcc/XBhS9MXMFi0/s1600/Kat%2BWarren%2BPhotography-IMG_2482-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-69css11vK1Q/VJM6Aq6nW2I/AAAAAAAAOcc/XBhS9MXMFi0/s1600/Kat%2BWarren%2BPhotography-IMG_2482-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
When it comes to make up, I am like a stick in the mud, using the same products for years. It also seems like it takes me years to go through the make up I buy as I don't wear a ton of it, so mineral make up had always appealed to me for that reason. The issue I've had with mineral make up is that it can often leave you looking dry (yet oily if that makes sense?!), cracked and it can emphasize fine lines if you're a bit older, but that issue has been solved with <a href="http://www.alimapure.com/" target="_blank">Alima Pure Mineral Make Up.</a><br />
<br />
I found this company while searching for green foundations through the <a href="http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/" target="_blank">Environmental Working Group's Skin Deep site</a>...can I tell you how much I love and have referred to this site?! Alima Pure kept coming up as one of the best make up companies out there for using clean, green ingredients, and very few of them.<br />
<br />
I love both their mineral foundation (I have a sample of the Magnolia and plan to buy the full size after the holidays), and their satin finishing powder. They are both light, and give you a polished look without looking like you have on make up, my favorite. I also have a sample of their eye shadow, and when funds allow, I'll be buying a full size of that as well.<br />
<br />
But on top of producing great products, this company has it all going on from a customer service standpoint. Before my daughter got married back in early October I was in desperate need of their products and I had a serious time crunch I was dealing with. I called Alima Pure and they walked me through which product I needed, which color would best suit me, they sent me samples, AND they hand walked it through the shipping process to make sure it arrived in time for her special day!!! I truly can't say enough good things about the way they treated me, and they have created a customer for life.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZSg1MFo4lAA/VJM5_ZwmJqI/AAAAAAAAOcM/ElNpdMU-RWo/s1600/Kat%2BWarren%2BPhotography-IMG_2469-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZSg1MFo4lAA/VJM5_ZwmJqI/AAAAAAAAOcM/ElNpdMU-RWo/s1600/Kat%2BWarren%2BPhotography-IMG_2469-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Ok, now onto one of my holy grail products! Can you love a product so much that you want to buy it by the case?! Yes, yes you can!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Rm3eYqPeiRw/VJM5_ghRsYI/AAAAAAAAOcA/kb0QMZUvilE/s1600/Kat%2BWarren%2BPhotography-IMG_2470-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Rm3eYqPeiRw/VJM5_ghRsYI/AAAAAAAAOcA/kb0QMZUvilE/s1600/Kat%2BWarren%2BPhotography-IMG_2470-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
I stumbled upon <a href="http://www.indigowild.com/" target="_blank">Indigo Wild's line of ZUM products</a> late at night while surfing the internet. Their quirky line of products, with names like Dragon's Blood and Frankincense and Myrrh intrigued me, and I ordered several of their products.<br />
<br />
This cost conscience line has a little something for everyone, but their gentle cleanser and rubs had me at hello. The frankincense and myrrh Zum Rub is amazing. I had read that it was really wonderful for preventing and controlling breakouts due to the healing powers of both of these special ingredients, but I worried about putting such a rich butter on my face. That worry was quickly dispelled, and I now wear this every night and as a spot treatment over my face oil and under my make up.<br />
<br />
The smell is rich and exotic, and even borders on a little bit masculine (if there is such a thing) but I love it, and feel like I'm missing something if I don't slather it on before bedtime. I have been using this for quite awhile now and I've barely put a dent into the tub...a little goes a long way! P.S. they also sell cleaning products and pet products.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-llMk4Gv6JiY/VJM5-gQPutI/AAAAAAAAObs/TzNI7_eGE4U/s1600/Kat%2BWarren%2BPhotography-IMG_2461-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-llMk4Gv6JiY/VJM5-gQPutI/AAAAAAAAObs/TzNI7_eGE4U/s1600/Kat%2BWarren%2BPhotography-IMG_2461-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Last but certainly not least is a little bit of heaven in a tube!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9hdLeonXwBw/VJM5-ageURI/AAAAAAAAObw/gDEcEEeIY3g/s1600/Kat%2BWarren%2BPhotography-IMG_2462-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9hdLeonXwBw/VJM5-ageURI/AAAAAAAAObw/gDEcEEeIY3g/s1600/Kat%2BWarren%2BPhotography-IMG_2462-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<a href="http://lindenbeauty.com/" target="_blank">R. L. linden & Co</a>. is one of those special companies that you expect to only find in a European spa or high end beauty boutique. I haven't tried many of their products, but their handcrafted lip balms are the bomb! Filled with only the best ingredients and with the most delicate rose scent, their balms are a healthy treat for lips, especially this time of year. I bought several to use as stocking stuffers!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3OBzWnWOsUM/VJM5-afj14I/AAAAAAAAObo/A2HXe_n8emw/s1600/Kat%2BWarren%2BPhotography-IMG_2464-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3OBzWnWOsUM/VJM5-afj14I/AAAAAAAAObo/A2HXe_n8emw/s1600/Kat%2BWarren%2BPhotography-IMG_2464-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Their <a href="http://lindenbeauty.com/collections/all" target="_blank">La Balmba Rosa Healing Rose balm</a> isn't just for lips either. You can also buy it in a jar and slather it wherever you need a little extra moisture. The scent is heavenly and just look at that beautiful pale pink color.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
R.L. linden & Co. is another company which ranks high up on the customer service scale. I had the happy opportunity to speak to the owner Robin, and she was not only helpful, but incredibly friendly. I plan to definitely check out more of their products very soon...especially their teas, since you know I have a thing for tea!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
So, that is my green beauty gift guide, the short list. I will share more about green beauty soaps, detergents, and shampoos in another post after the holidays.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
None of the companies in the post have compensated me in any way, I truly just believe in their products and in their philosophy that people deserve healthy and natural products to use on their skin.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Now hurry up and let those around you know that you still have a few things on your holiday wish list! Be sure to let me know if you buy any of these and if you love them as much as I do!</div>

<br />
The past few days have felt more like spring than fall, with temps in the high 60s and low 70s. I have been running around in t-shirts and jeans, but with booties just to remind me that it is in fact autumn. Today, mother nature gave me a gentle reminder that as much as I would like it to be springtime, it is in fact just a few weeks from Thanksgiving, and colder weather is on its way.<br />
<br />
I can't believe we are in the middle of November, and as the falling leaves so vividly remind me, I can't do anything to turn back the clock, or hang each leaf back upon their branches.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uMO6juj9Vcs/VGT9zpOC_YI/AAAAAAAAOaA/dF5Lg0XP28Y/s1600/Kat%2BWarren%2BPhotography-IMG_1913-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uMO6juj9Vcs/VGT9zpOC_YI/AAAAAAAAOaA/dF5Lg0XP28Y/s1600/Kat%2BWarren%2BPhotography-IMG_1913-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
I am a huge tea drinker, with my current flavor obsession being green ginger, and on days like this I grab a mug not long after I roll out of bed. I have never been a coffee drinker, except when I was very little and my grandmother would fix me a cup which consisted mostly of milk and a healthy helping of sugar I am sure!<br />
<br />
<br />

Even though the weather has been playing tricks on me, I did break out all of my turkey day regalia last week. And though I don't like decorating for Christmas until after Thanksgiving has come and gone, I am strangely excited to put out Christmas, but I will fight that feeling until Tom Turkey above has had his day in the sun. :)<br />

<br />
I am working on a story at the moment, it's a lovely home located in California. I will keep you posted on when it will be out, and in which mag, I know you will love it!<br />
<br />
Whenever I am working, I always have company of the 4 legged sort. Whether I am working, processing pictures, or just surfing the web, I almost always have a furry foot warmer. Quinn and Misty take turns at laying under my desk, and as you can see from the picture above, Quinn leaves me very little space for my tootsies. Misty is more generous with leg room, but Quinn seems to think this is his spot and I should work around him! <br />
<br />
Our border collie Kylee used to have this spot all to herself, no one dared take her place at my feet, but Quinn and Misty have managed to work it out so that both of them get a turn.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gQ91WVulNT8/VGT9z9NjmBI/AAAAAAAAOaM/Ki_ooR4eYmQ/s1600/Kat%2BWarren%2BPhotography-IMG_1899-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gQ91WVulNT8/VGT9z9NjmBI/AAAAAAAAOaM/Ki_ooR4eYmQ/s1600/Kat%2BWarren%2BPhotography-IMG_1899-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Even if it's not her turn under the desk, Misty Belle manages to settle in not too far away from her mama. I love these two, even if they bark too much sometimes! </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I used a grunge overlay on the pictures in this post, I love how it creates contrast, adds grungy texture, and really makes things pop.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Along with tea, I listen to lots of music while I am working, so since I haven't shared any music with you lately, I've linked one of my favorite songs below. It is sort of melancholy, but reminds us that we really can't slow down the days, the seasons, or the years as they fly by, but we can learn to love every moment as it is happening.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I hope you have lots of wonderful moments to cherish each day!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

Just a couple of days after these pics were taken at my niece's baby shower, sweet blueberry (the name we have all called her since she was conceived), decided to make a surprise appearance...6 weeks early!<br />
<br />
Thankfully Momma and Baby K, aka Baby Blueberry, are both doing well. Baby K will spend some time in the NICU, but only to gain a bit more weight and to learn to regulate her body temp without the aide of an incubator, so we are thankful and overjoyed that she is with us and healthy. And did I mention adorable?! She looks so much like my niece did when she was born.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pKnV9VzPAJg/VFaWSJaHMlI/AAAAAAAAOZA/jfjvv-eKSrQ/s1600/Kat%2BWarren%2BPhotography-IMG_1860-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pKnV9VzPAJg/VFaWSJaHMlI/AAAAAAAAOZA/jfjvv-eKSrQ/s1600/Kat%2BWarren%2BPhotography-IMG_1860-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Along with a new baby, we have a new car. Our faithful Jetta bit the dust shortly after our daughter's wedding, and I have to admit that I got teary when we traded her in. <br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-x8sRi9tLM4g/VFaWSum99lI/AAAAAAAAOZE/vsMYtyhviU0/s1600/Kat%2BWarren%2BPhotography-IMG_1862-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-x8sRi9tLM4g/VFaWSum99lI/AAAAAAAAOZE/vsMYtyhviU0/s1600/Kat%2BWarren%2BPhotography-IMG_1862-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
I even got choked up while driving the new car, which I have named Pearl, because it's not a stick. I've never been without a manual transmission vehicle since I started driving tractors at the age of 6 or 7!!! I then told myself to get over myself...I mean, I am driving a brand spank'n new car for gosh sake, I should be feeling grateful! Sometimes I need a little kick in the pants to remind myself of how lucky I am!<br />
<br />

<br />
If March can go out like a lion, then November can surely come in like a tiger! We had ferocious winds last night, and I was sure the bird feeder outside my bedroom window was going to come through the window at about 2 am...thankfully I have a wild imagination and that didn't happen.<br />
<br />
We had gusts of over 55 mph, and most of the leaves are gone from the trees now, signaling that fall is officially here to stay.<br />
<br />

The winds are still howling, but not as badly as overnight, and even the pups don't really want to be outside. The leaves on our maple have been blown to bits, though a few still cling to their branches in defiance. And the field is decked out in muted shades of amber, wheat, burnt umber, and even a little amethyst. It makes me want to wear clothing in these exact shades...it's that time of year after all.</div>

In other news, Fifi O'Neill told me that her new wedding book, Prairie Style Weddings, will be out December 2, just in time for Christmas, and it is available for pre-order on Amazon. For all you romantic, nature loving brides, or mother's of the bride, who are looking for great rustic, chic ideas, this is a must have!</div>

<br />
Thank you everyone for your lovely comments on my last post! It makes my heart sing to see so many beautiful comments about our daughter's special day!<br />
<br />
We have spent the last week catching up and relaxing. The new phone I bought is a Galaxy S5, and I am starting to take some pictures with it. The image above was taken last Monday, as we all were getting back into the swing of things following the festivities. What better way to unwind than a paddle in the kayaks right?! Those are my in-laws, chilling out after a hectic few days.<br />
<br />
So far I have to say that my new phone does an amazing job of taking photos, and I'm wondering why I waited so long to replace my old one!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JrziHp5iV6U/VDx5bqVhrLI/AAAAAAAAOX0/t0DumYjrKMg/s1600/Kat%2BWarren%2BPhotography-IMG_1763-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JrziHp5iV6U/VDx5bqVhrLI/AAAAAAAAOX0/t0DumYjrKMg/s1600/Kat%2BWarren%2BPhotography-IMG_1763-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Of course I can't ever really imagine relying solely on a cell phone for all of my photography needs, but who knows, it could happen! <br />
<br />
The cosmos we planted are putting on a pretty spectacular show now that the weather is cooler. I took both of the flower images with my regular camera, and then added a texture to each pic.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GboTzIRisyQ/VDx5bnmnz1I/AAAAAAAAOX4/SQiPLQ5NUTs/s1600/Kat%2BWarren%2BPhotography-IMG_1765-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GboTzIRisyQ/VDx5bnmnz1I/AAAAAAAAOX4/SQiPLQ5NUTs/s1600/Kat%2BWarren%2BPhotography-IMG_1765-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
It's amazing how $20 worth of seed can bring us so much happiness, but it's true that these flowers provide us joy every single time we pull into our driveway or look out the front door.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I know their days are numbered as our nights edge ever closer toward the freezing mark, but for now I will drink in their bright color and devil may care attitude towards the weather.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
As I type this, the windows are open and we are enjoying a bit of an Indian summer...oh to be able to bottle up these days and break them out come mid-January or February. I guess even Mother Nature deserves a little winding down after her hectic spring and summer.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Enjoy your week! xo</div>

The guest book was actually a wall canvas people could sign. How cool is it that they can now hang this on their wall and enjoy the well wishes compared to the guest book we had at our wedding which hasn't seen the light of day for years!<br />

I decided that I wouldn't let another sunset occur without posting something on this ole' blog of mine which I have left unattended for FAR too long. The pic above was actually taken with my new cell phone (yay, I finally found one that will let me text from home!), and it was taken by my trusty passenger, ie. Mr. Tide. No driving and shooting out a window while on a big bridge for me!<br />
<br />
I am loving this new phone, even if the learning curve is a little steep since I haven't had a new phone in years! It takes great pictures, and I'm thinking I might need to set up an instagram account, but we'll see how that goes.<br />

<br />
I have an inbox full of unanswered emails, and I just can't seem to get my "you know what" together to get them answered. I could give you some reasons why...like the fact that our daughter is getting married on Saturday, or that my beautiful niece and Goddaughter is pregnant, that our son just got a job a few weeks ago after graduating in May, or that our AC went out on the 23rd of August and we still don't have it fixed, and have decided to just wait until next spring to get a new system, but the truth is I have just been lackadaisical for months now!<br />
<br />

I don't even pick up my camera the way I once did, though I did want to capture these gorgeous monarchs before they headed south this year.<br />

Our wonderful neighbor didn't mow the fields this summer, so they have been ablaze with yellow flowers which the monarchs love...and so do we!<br />

<br />
I'm hoping that once we get past the wonderful celebratory event this weekend, which we are so excited about, that Stella will finally get her groove back! There is a nip in the air at night, and that always makes me antsy to get back into the swing of things after being footloose and fancy free during the summer months!<br />

<br />
After a long hiatus from my blog I am finally back to share a few photos of what I've been up to. Hold onto your hats my friends because it's been non stop excitement around here...*rolls eyes*!!! <br />
<br />
Actually, the truth is that I have spent most of this summer pulling back instead of pushing and running myself ragged like I sometimes do. Instead, I have been relaxing, staying unplugged and really trying to soak in all that this summer has offered us, most especially the glorious weather we've been having. Even as I am typing this on August 25th, historically a blazing hot time of year here, we have our house wide open and a cool breeze almost becomes chilly as the sun goes down...it is pure bliss in my book! <br />
<br />
The photos in this post are a random hodge podge of things we saw on a recent kayak outing. Nothing to write home about, and some of them are quite grainy, but I like them non the less. The photo above shows the hate/hate relationship between the eagles and osprey each summer. The osprey's talons say "I mean business," as the eagle swoops below the osprey as it wings its way past the osprey's nest. The eagles seem rather unaffected by the constant warning cries of the osprey, and although I wasn't able to capture it, the eagle above did roll over and show his or her own talons as if to say...you wanna piece of me...I didn't think so!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />

It's as if they sing me the song of my people in hushed tones...so relaxing!<br />
<br />

The muskrats get so close sometimes as we kayak that I worry they might try and climb in the kayak, but they always manage to dip below the surface and go about their merry way just before I am forced to figure out how I would fend one off should it become too curious about the crazy lady with the camera!<br />

<br />
This was a sight we hadn't seen before...a Green Heron. I had never heard of these before, but apparently they are quite common in our area, but also quite elusive, which likely explains why we have never seen one until this summer. I would have missed him altogether if Mr. Tide hadn't noticed him far away on the edge of the creek up ahead of us.<br />
<br />

<br />
By the time we made our way out to open water, the sun was setting; it was quite late<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2HjUnSO84FQ/U_ulUe-i0kI/AAAAAAAAL94/OvABwqaPnXQ/s1600/Kat%2BWarren%2BPhotography-IMG_1276.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2HjUnSO84FQ/U_ulUe-i0kI/AAAAAAAAL94/OvABwqaPnXQ/s1600/Kat%2BWarren%2BPhotography-IMG_1276.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Twilight is a magical time on the water, everything is more intense and somehow a little eerie. I can remember heading back in off of the water as a child and always hoping we would reach the dock before complete darkness fell on the water. I'm pretty sure that means I'm not from good seafaring stock, as I prefer to be out on the water during the day, though I do love to sleep on a boat and feel the rocking motion...it's a complicated emotion I suppose! ;)</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<br />
The beach is always quiet at sundown, another reason I like twilight on the water.<br />
<br />
<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
As we reached our pier that evening, the sun's rays were dancing on the water and it looked like liquid gold...so pretty!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
As fall is quickly approaching, I feel even more compelled to spend time outdoors and soak up the rapidly diminishing daylight. Unplugging has been such a wonderful and freeing thing for me, and I can't really think of any downsides except for being a little more out of pocket with those blogs I so enjoy reading. I still take a peek, but for now, I will allow mother nature to hold my undivided attention. Cold weather will be here soon enough, the computer will once again fill those long dark evenings, but for the moment, I will breath in the brackish air and dance under the moonlight!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Wishing you all a lovely end to August!</div>

<br />
Not much new here. As a matter of fact, I am typing this post with my left arm propped up on a towel on the arm of my desk chair. It helps provide some cushion, and it, along with all of the acupuncture and doctor visits, is helping to resolve this pinched nerve. Which is good, because patience is NOT my strong suit!<br />
<br />
I have never been one to do things part way, which is how I got the pinched nerve to begin with. I have been planking as part of my new exercise routine and apparently you aren't supposed to do it for as long or as intensely as I thought was appropriate, nor should you do it on a floor that isn't properly padded! <br />
<br />
The one benefit of being pig headed is that sometimes our bodies force us to stop and slow down a bit when our minds would otherwise prevent such reprieves.<br />
<br />
See that little hole in the vines draped from every branch of the huge poplar tree? It is one of the favorite parts of my yard, I feel like it is my own little looking glass onto the creek. Now that I have lots of computer free time, I often go out into the back yard as the light is waning and just stare through it as though it is a magical camera lens!<br />
<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JATpvjsn7Xc/U-JQlXjTgRI/AAAAAAAAL8o/6hPq4j3NufM/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_1085.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JATpvjsn7Xc/U-JQlXjTgRI/AAAAAAAAL8o/6hPq4j3NufM/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_1085.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
I haven't been using my camera much lately but last night I decided to take it along on my evening outing.<br />
<br />
I always have company when I'm outside, and last night Misty Belle decided that a ball would help her entertain us while we sat. She was correct as she acts like a complete loony toon when she has her favorite ball outside with her. She doesn't expect us to throw it, in fact she prefers we not touch it at all, but she thoroughly enjoys playing with it, and in the process brings great joy to us, the onlookers.<br />

We also have a hammock in this area, but last night I chose to sit in the chairs...having options is a wonderful thing don't you think?! ;)<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Our Cosmos are just beginning to bloom and they look beautiful! The foliage of Cosmos is almost as lovely as the blossoms themselves in my humble opinion. It is a delicate, almost fluffy plant, topped off by flowers in shades that range from deep lavender to bright white in the mix that we purchased. The petals spread wide to the heavens as though they are cupping every last drop of sunlight, while the foliage seems to hug the spindly blossoms and give them a cloud like base from which to grow.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
After my jaunt around the yard, it was time to head back inside as the sun was setting. Back inside I was greeted with the fact that we no longer have a proper place to sit in our living room. We gave our son our old sectional couch for his new apartment. I was thrilled at the possibility of replacing it, even though it was still in amazing shape, and I decided it would be fun to go out shopping for a new sofa after all of these years.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
It turns out that as I get older, shopping really isn't my thing anymore. I think it may be because I know exactly what I want, and I either can't afford it or I simply can't find it?! I was tempted to rush into something that was "good enough," but instead I think I will take my time and wait until I find just what I want. That of course means that I need to decide between color or neutral, skirted or not skirted, slipcovered or not, three cushion or two...the list goes on and one...hence the wait.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
For now, I will simply enjoy the sad wing chairs we dragged together in one part of the room and my lovely coffee table which I hope will fit the new vision for the room. I would LOVE to hear your opinions, experiences, etc. on different brands of sofas as I begin this quest to find a place to sit a spell. Right now I'm leaning toward Lee Industries and maybe Hickory Chair...thoughts?</div>

<br />
Not much to report of late, as a matter of fact I've been a bit out of pocket recently. At first it was because of the 4th of July holiday, then we had company in from out of town, then I was having computer issues, and within the last couple of weeks I have had a pinched nerve in my arm...which makes being on the computer difficult.<br />
<br />
I have had it checked out and it turns out I have "golfer's elbow," which is kind of ironic since I don't golf! And in all the years that I played competitive tennis, I never once developed tennis elbow, yet somehow I now have golfer's elbow...go figure! Maybe I should take up the game and see if it makes my elbow/shoulder/upper arm better?!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BLSCST6XgeU/U9Vx5l3Mb2I/AAAAAAAAL7w/qDIMdOqNIJQ/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_1039-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BLSCST6XgeU/U9Vx5l3Mb2I/AAAAAAAAL7w/qDIMdOqNIJQ/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_1039-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
With my arm out of commission I haven't been taking pictures, holding the camera is one of those things that seems to irritate it, but I did make an exception when a female Goldfinch decided it had to have an afternoon snack and landed on the Anise Hyssop plant on our patio.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
A male often joins her on the plant, and they happily pluck the lavender flowers, which apparently are quite yummy. If you look closely at the image above you will see that she has a blossom in her beak, and you can also see that many of the small lavender blooms that fill each stalk are missing.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The male is much brighter yellow, and a striking fellow I must say, but the plant is located not too far from our sliding door, so whenever I try and open it to take a shot they both hurry away as though they'e been caught red, or in this case purple, handed!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
This is the first year I have tried to grow Hyssop, but it won't be the last. I originally wanted the pink/coral variety, but the anise was all I could find in my area. There seems to be some debate as to whether the variety I have is the same as the traditional European hyssop herb which is prized for its healing powers. You can read more about anise hyssop<a href="http://www.motherearthliving.com/plant-profile/anise-hyssop.aspx#axzz38hxNo52Y" target="_blank"> HERE</a>. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Whatever healing powers it may or may not have doesn't seem to prevent the birds and bees from loving it. The stalks are full to the brim all day long with bees, which seem a bit addicted to its flavor, or perhaps the magic it possesses. And for now, the goldfinches seem quite content as well.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I will be away a bit longer as I try to let this arm of mine heal. Wishing you all a very happy week ahead!</div>

<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-TsNDspKtplA/U7LUcO3YEXI/AAAAAAAAL6M/dX-NZeTfEhI/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0505-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-TsNDspKtplA/U7LUcO3YEXI/AAAAAAAAL6M/dX-NZeTfEhI/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0505-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
While getting rid of some of the spam comments on my blog this past week, I realized that lots of comments are getting hung up in the system somehow. I noticed comments I had never received, nor responded to, which had been posted on my blog that I was completely unaware of.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-X02y9M3Ym08/U7LUb4QbE1I/AAAAAAAAL6I/Mtu2TjLBniE/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0786-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-X02y9M3Ym08/U7LUb4QbE1I/AAAAAAAAL6I/Mtu2TjLBniE/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0786-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
These were not spam comments, but thoughtful comments left by kind people and I never even thought to check each post to see the comments, because the comments are supposed to show up in my email. Yet another thing about blogging that makes me sigh. <br />
<br />
Although I don't respond to each and every comment that comes my way, I hate thinking that I've missed some and never would have known about them had I not gotten rid of spam, which seems to be well equipped at getting through. So to those of you who I've missed, please know that it wasn't intentional, it was simply absentmindedness on my part!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aIiylC2xe4g/U7LUcpxktRI/AAAAAAAAL6Y/9H0YqcYL6YQ/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0793-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aIiylC2xe4g/U7LUcpxktRI/AAAAAAAAL6Y/9H0YqcYL6YQ/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0793-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
We have been plugging along with the massive garage clean up...yup it was that messy that it's taken this long to remedy, and it's still not perfect, but much closer to perfection than it has been in 7 years...and that makes me very happy! <br />
<br />
The time consuming part is that we couldn't just throw stuff out en masse, but we had to open each box and container to see what treasures they held, then decide if they were still "our" treasures, or if we should turn them into someone else's treasures. <br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-eJ11FPo2YC0/U7LUdpY8XDI/AAAAAAAAL6o/Fiy00K-t2X8/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0807-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-eJ11FPo2YC0/U7LUdpY8XDI/AAAAAAAAL6o/Fiy00K-t2X8/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0807-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
It's funny how something can seem so important to you at one point in your life, yet just a few years later you are ready to part with it because it no longer holds the same meaning for you that it once did. I guess as we transition through life our priorities change right along with our tastes and sentimentality.<br />
<br />
What we found was that we were way more sentimental about our children's books, games, and toys than they were. When I asked our daughter if she wanted us to keep her Go Go The Walking Pup dog...a must have one Christmas when she was little as it had a leash and could walk on its own thanks to the magic of batteries...she responded with a text that read "I have no idea what Go Go The Walking Pup even is, so yes donate it!"<br />
<br />
We got a similar reaction from our son regarding his childhood toys, except that he went online to see if they were worth anything first...ahhh to be young and in the phase where a few bucks supersedes the "remember when" factor...but his sentimental transition will come, one day.<br />
<br />
<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
I feel like lately I'm a little lost in transition rather than lost in translation. My sentimentality has shifted, and I now treasure moments, not things, much more than I once did. I've never been one to value possessions over people and memories, but sometimes parting with items that represent a certain stage or point in our lives can be difficult, especially when those items were gifts from people who are no longer here, or those items belonged to, and were treasured by those who have passed on. Or worse yet, they magically transport you back to when your children were little.<br />
<br />
When you get rid of those items it can be both freeing and a bit daunting. And what is meaningful differs from person to person. As we stood dripping with sweat in the garage sorting through childhood memories, I could see that what brought back memories of our children when they were young for Mr. Tide was often different than what I found difficult to let go of.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VqJGx9MB4io/U7LUdyBDq1I/AAAAAAAAL6s/eRLL9FVtyyc/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0825-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VqJGx9MB4io/U7LUdyBDq1I/AAAAAAAAL6s/eRLL9FVtyyc/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0825-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
In the end, we were able to let go of the stuff and focus on the here and now, and the gift that we are able to make new memories, with the bonus of having a clean garage!<br />
<br />
I can hardly believe that it is July already, back during our long winter it seemed like such a distant time, this wonderful season of summer which I love so much. Like the toys our children once loved, the seasons are fleeting and we need to focus on the present and not long for the past or wish for the future.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-OL067JaMJGk/U7LUe3c2OWI/AAAAAAAAL60/m6XKNtuFpQ4/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0828-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-OL067JaMJGk/U7LUe3c2OWI/AAAAAAAAL60/m6XKNtuFpQ4/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0828-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I think I'm going to like being lost in transition for as long as it lasts, for we know that this too shall pass, and everything really is just one phase leading us into another throughout our lives.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I plan to keep getting rid of things which tie me down, force me to worry about them, or cause me stress over where to put them. And I also plan to enjoy every single day in a way that I thought I had in the past, but now realize that I really wasn't. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
That means less time on the computer, which I've been enjoying SO much, more time spent with friends and family, less time worrying about having a perfect house before having everyone over for a big dinner, more walks in the evening, more time in the kayaks, and less time doing the things I don't really feel passionate about...like weeding for instance! ;)</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I know many of you are in a transitional phase yourselves, and I hope you let yourself get lost a little, because knowing where you're headed all of the time can be so boring! Happy July!</div>

<br />
The weeks are flying by it seems, and this time of year is always hectic for us. We have birthdays, mother's day, father's day, our anniversary, and other celebrations that are all clumped together from late April until mid June. Although it has been a bit crazy around here, I feel like we've accomplished so much already this spring, and I hope the rest of the warmer months will be equally as productive.<br />
<br />
Although we've spent lots of hours cleaning and getting our yard back in shape...or maybe I should say in better shape, we have taken time to just enjoy this time of year by hanging out on our back patio in the evenings.<br />
<br />
Last weekend the weather was picture perfect, low humidity, breezy, and almost cool'ish as the sun was setting each night, so we would go out after dinner and watch for our little hummingbirds to visit the feeder we have placed not far from where we sit. Of course I take my camera with me sometimes in hopes of catching these little creatures that move so quickly.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-iYFeOJn2aE4/U6D1QXfEZkI/AAAAAAAAL5A/KmApxTrKuoA/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0558-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-iYFeOJn2aE4/U6D1QXfEZkI/AAAAAAAAL5A/KmApxTrKuoA/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0558-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Sometimes, trying to get a good shot of them is a lesson in sheer frustration, but for whatever reason, I try and try again. And although they don't seem to mind if we are outside, they don't really like us to be too close, and they seem to sense when I have the camera, and become well, camera shy!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I was so excited when the female pictured in the 2 photos above, sat still just long enough for me to capture a nice shot of her complete with a pollen covered beak.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<br />
Rarely do they land on the feeders when we are out, but instead they flit back and forth from hole to hole watching their backs the whole time.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JXZygSkomsc/U6D1SFNOv-I/AAAAAAAAL58/dKuP9smIeh8/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0745-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JXZygSkomsc/U6D1SFNOv-I/AAAAAAAAL58/dKuP9smIeh8/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0745-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
This year we seem to have a bossy female, and her equally bossy female nemesis, and the two of them fight non stop over our feeder. In years past we've had at least 2 feeders, and our neighbor usually has several as well, but this year we bought a new feeder, and threw out our old ones that were brittle and in poor shape due to the unrelenting sun we get here.<br />
<br />
And our neighbor hasn't put her feeders out yet, so we seem to be the only game in town, so maybe that's why they seem so territorial at the moment.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_mohJCkgEas/U6D1SYqVDOI/AAAAAAAAL5c/8ah5XIoz5VA/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0752-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_mohJCkgEas/U6D1SYqVDOI/AAAAAAAAL5c/8ah5XIoz5VA/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0752-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
As soon as one female comes in to drink, the other female is lying in wait with a not so secret sneak attack in mind. <br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JnkZi1p_jWU/U6D1SiHbvKI/AAAAAAAAL5s/UwyL-ospYLQ/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0753-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JnkZi1p_jWU/U6D1SiHbvKI/AAAAAAAAL5s/UwyL-ospYLQ/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0753-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Each female takes quick rapid sips from the feeder, all the while knowing that the other one will soon be there to shove her off for her own dining pleasure. <br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-AvMnmmMEM7s/U6D1TIV1ijI/AAAAAAAAL50/UEJlab47GBU/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0758-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-AvMnmmMEM7s/U6D1TIV1ijI/AAAAAAAAL50/UEJlab47GBU/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0758-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
They often spar for a bit, and then the other one will fly off to our maple or cherry tree, chattering the whole way, as if she is cussing out the other one in secret hummingbird language.<br />
<br />
This goes on for quite some time, and they never seem to come to any kind of understanding that there are multiple holes in the feeder, and the more the merrier concept seems completely lost on these two alpha females.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NWpHdHyaj78/U6D1TcDBEdI/AAAAAAAAL54/SEXA6zfVsgk/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0775.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NWpHdHyaj78/U6D1TcDBEdI/AAAAAAAAL54/SEXA6zfVsgk/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0775.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
I've only seen a male at the feeder a handful of times, and my guess is that he's just happy to stay out of the fray of these bossy little ladies. <br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-FW8Ng1tnDn8/U6D1RM5ABjI/AAAAAAAAL5I/Xb_glFZt1QI/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0625-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-FW8Ng1tnDn8/U6D1RM5ABjI/AAAAAAAAL5I/Xb_glFZt1QI/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0625-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
It reminds me of that scene in Finding Nemo where the seagulls are all saying "mine, mine, mine" as they fight over who will win the prize of something yummy to eat.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-FwYi1_GrgME/U6D1RSRgMXI/AAAAAAAAL5Y/danA1UHvm8U/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0653-Edit-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-FwYi1_GrgME/U6D1RSRgMXI/AAAAAAAAL5Y/danA1UHvm8U/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0653-Edit-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
And of course they don't even seem interested in the various flowers I have planted to help give them an artisanal selection of nectars to choose from. Thankfully the bees, moths, and butterflies don't mind sharing, and are happy with the flowers I selected for their cafe style dining experience.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I guess hummingbirds can be a lot like people...worried that if they share, they might miss out on something really good. Perhaps they've never read the saying below!</div>

<br />
The past week has been fraught with change, some good, some bad. With change comes a certain realization that things never remain constant, and for the most part that is a good thing, it is a way to make us grow even when we don't know that we need to.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-W50nmdv9aWY/U5fEdNAff3I/AAAAAAAAL34/5WJbnjmAQus/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0418-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-W50nmdv9aWY/U5fEdNAff3I/AAAAAAAAL34/5WJbnjmAQus/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0418-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Mr. Tide has taken a few days off from work and we've been busy cleaning out our garage, a task that was 7 years overdue. Ever since we moved in to our "not so" new house, the garage has been a dumping ground for all things to be dealt with later.<br />
<br />
It became the place we put the stuff from the attic at our old house as this house doesn't really have an attic. It also became the place where the spare items from our renovation went to die...you never know when you will need that 3 inch piece of crown moulding, right? or how about that marble sink you got for a steal?! It had to house our tools, including the riding mower, rototiller, etc. It became our sports center, though truth be told some of those balls, sticks, and racquets haven't seen the light of day in a very long time! And holiday stuff...forgetaboutit!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WfuTKfAYTDE/U5fEdLo0S3I/AAAAAAAAL38/6ZGaAFwCfvc/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0466-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WfuTKfAYTDE/U5fEdLo0S3I/AAAAAAAAL38/6ZGaAFwCfvc/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0466-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Of course there is the furniture that never quite fit in this house, but will work just great when your son gets his first apartment, so you better hang on to that. The lawn furniture that you use for half the year. The memorabilia from kids growing up...you can't part with that! And don't even get me started on the number of pots I have...I could seriously open a nursery if I had the gumption to plant and water a million potted plants!<br />
<br />
I did finally wise up this year and planted far fewer things that will require watering during our sometimes scorching summers...but that doesn't really account for the number of pots I have acquired over the years, perhaps I should add this to my shoe and flower obsessions. On second thought, lets just blame it on the fact that I did inherit a lot of those pots and leave it at that.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-UpX1BSJaEhc/U5fEdKLmxsI/AAAAAAAAL4Q/uxDUZi_xlCs/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0469-Edit-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-UpX1BSJaEhc/U5fEdKLmxsI/AAAAAAAAL4Q/uxDUZi_xlCs/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0469-Edit-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
I will say that over the past 3 days we have been taking stock of all of this "stuff" that was SO important to us that we schlepped it from one house after another, and haven't looked at much of it for 7 years now!<br />
<br />
And along the way as we've cleared, cleaned, and contemplated, I figured out something very important. My tastes have changed...a lot! I don't mean in the last 7 years, but in the last 6 months. I crave simplicity the way a person in the desert craves water.<br />
<br />
I no longer want a bunch of "stuff" that I have to lug from place to place, and so I'm letting go. I have never really been one to hoard things, I can't even really wrap my head around the concept of hoarding to be honest, and I feel for those who do suffer from that particular compulsion.<br />
<br />
But in a way, we are all hoarders of sorts, no matter how small. We tell ourselves that this or that will be important to us one day, we can't part with things people have given us, even if we never loved that thing to begin with. Or as in my case, I often think "oh you should save that for the kids or maybe put it on Craig's List or sell it at a yard sale," all the while knowing that my kids probably won't want it, and the idea of having a yard sale gives me hives! I mean really, getting up at 5 am after spending hours putting price tags on stuff that's only worth a quarter and then haggling with people who want to pay 5 cents for something really isn't my thing. Though I am sometimes secretly jealous of those of you who do make the effort to go to yard sales and find amazing stuff...you know who you are Linda and Terri!!! :)<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0jcMuAV5HuM/U5fEeAWMK_I/AAAAAAAAL4A/zPVGGLRhBWI/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0490-Edit-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0jcMuAV5HuM/U5fEeAWMK_I/AAAAAAAAL4A/zPVGGLRhBWI/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0490-Edit-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
For me, and much more so as I grow older, the letting go is the simplest part. There is a certain sweetness in filling up the back of your truck with bits and bobs that you know people will love discovering at the local thrift store.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Each trip we make to the dump, to the recycling center or thrift store is like a weight being lifted off of my shoulders. And with each square inch of real estate I gain back in my garage I feel a sense of joy come over me.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Maybe it's the little things in life we are truly craving while we're busy accumulating or pinning things we hope to accumulate! Like watching the muskrats swim back and forth all day long, perhaps accumulating their own clutter as they move from den to den? Or the sweet smell of honeysuckle that wafts through the house from along our fenceline. Or a very tuckered pup who thinks that all that crap you have is just something wonderful to cover in dog fur. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Whatever has taken hold of me and turned me into a conscientious objector in the war on "buy more, it will make you happy," I'm liking it and I plan to keep ridding myself of things I no longer want or need. By the time I reach 100, I should pretty much have a computer desk, a chair, and a bed...and that should be just about perfect, I think. :)</div>

<br />
I know some people hate bees...and clover, but I love both! <br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-U_RG2nCwqfQ/U457oaW0-fI/AAAAAAAAL3o/vIaDVP6Tcho/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0471-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-U_RG2nCwqfQ/U457oaW0-fI/AAAAAAAAL3o/vIaDVP6Tcho/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0471-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
We hadn't seen very many bees yet this year, though we have been very accommodating in not mowing all the clover that blankets our yard until it's knee high to a possum or we can't see the dogs! ;) Then on Saturday, the bees finally arrived, and by the looks of the little lady above, they've been very busy while we weren't looking. Check out those pollen saddlebags!!!...she is bringing home the proverbial flower bacon!<br />
<br />
<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I have to say that both Mr. Tide's and my heart skipped a beat when we saw this lovely honey bee, and some of her brethren. We have been worried about hive collapse and all the issues that seem to be challenging one of the most important creatures on our planet, and not seeing any this year had us wringing our hands a bit.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Did you know that some of the new hybridized flowers either don't produce much pollen, or that their necks are so long that pollinators such as honey bees can't access their pollen?! Did you also know that all worker bees are female?</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
But as if to say..."thanks for not mowing the clover or killing the weeds and flowers we love with chemicals,"...these sweet bees gave us their nod of approval. Thankfully, we won't have to rely on the revery as Emily Dickinson suggests, and the bees will find a way to overcome our notion that manicured, weedless, and flowerless are signs of a beautiful yard!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yS0gCBEun9U/U4aeZZxF4xI/AAAAAAAAL3A/QXIeVVezoi0/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0377-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yS0gCBEun9U/U4aeZZxF4xI/AAAAAAAAL3A/QXIeVVezoi0/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0377-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
It's not really a secret per se, but I have a few addictions that I feel I need to acknowledge for the sake of full disclosure.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lwgkyqOOI5E/U4aeYxyL6iI/AAAAAAAAL20/1KAhrbs5VzE/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0375-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lwgkyqOOI5E/U4aeYxyL6iI/AAAAAAAAL20/1KAhrbs5VzE/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0375-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
I am woefully addicted to shoes...no really, I need a 12 step (pun intended) program. My latest loves are strappy high heeled sandals. So far I've acquired 2 pairs of brown, 2 pairs of black, though technically one of those is a wedge heel, so it doesn't really count right?! And I'm still on the hunt for a pair of white and maybe some coral colored ones...I think I need an intervention soon!<br />
<br />
I thought I had beaten my addiction to footwear, only to realize that it would likely be replaced by a handbag addiction, so for now I will stick with shoes because I find them on the cheap, and I've not been so lucky with finding dirt cheap handbags!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5n96Yq0OCls/U4aeW_Q4ztI/AAAAAAAAL2I/1uXR0g9faMI/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0348-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5n96Yq0OCls/U4aeW_Q4ztI/AAAAAAAAL2I/1uXR0g9faMI/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0348-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
My other not so secret addiction is to flowers. According to Mr. Tide, who has been doing a lot of genealogy on my side of the family, I'm descended from some fairly notable royals, so I blame them for this particular affliction...and now that I think about it, maybe for the penchant for shoes as well?!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Q1ygvpexpqo/U4aeW6sg67I/AAAAAAAAL2M/YzWKaum9AzY/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0354-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Q1ygvpexpqo/U4aeW6sg67I/AAAAAAAAL2M/YzWKaum9AzY/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0354-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
The other day I was having a Marie Antoinette moment as I looked around and noticed that I had 5 separate vases of flowers all around me, and I was in scent heaven! <br />
<br />
If someone were to peek through my windows, they would see me sniffing the wind like a bloodhound, soaking in every single bit of their delightful fragrance! The peonies have been especially fragrant this year, and one small bouquet made almost my entire house smell like a French Palace...minus the negative 18th Century smells! :)<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1vY56FjeKZI/U4aeYlJFt4I/AAAAAAAAL2s/LyQkyKfPAL8/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0370-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1vY56FjeKZI/U4aeYlJFt4I/AAAAAAAAL2s/LyQkyKfPAL8/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0370-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
And I have been known to walk visitors around my yard (sorry family and friends) to make them smell each variety of rose in our garden, while giving them a running commentary of what "I" think each one smells like. It usually goes something like this..."oh, see that one, it smells like Pez candy!" Thankfully, no one seems to mind too much...it's not as though I'm saying, "hey, wanna smell something weird?!"<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QqqCKtz8bGI/U4aeYIr5RsI/AAAAAAAAL2w/Y___Kf7XE0M/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0365-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QqqCKtz8bGI/U4aeYIr5RsI/AAAAAAAAL2w/Y___Kf7XE0M/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0365-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
So that's the deal...my deepest, fashionably darkest, and smelliest secrets revealed! I could probably go to therapy or try and break my addictions on my own, but why on earth would I want to do that?!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I'm off to bed, where it just so happens I can open my windows and have the smell of my New Dawn climbing rose waft into the room since it is growing up the wall by the window on my side of the bed. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I think my ancestors would be proud...happy that I can still appreciate the finer things in life, all these generations later!</div>

<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rFSaNmgJN6M/U3zShPm2lTI/AAAAAAAAL00/mgF76y5I8ek/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0319-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rFSaNmgJN6M/U3zShPm2lTI/AAAAAAAAL00/mgF76y5I8ek/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0319-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Aside from my family, friends, and pets, there are few things I love more in this world than flowers. I think it has something to do with the fact that my mother loved flowers and that one of her closest friends was a florist, so flowers were always an important design element around our house.<br />
<br />
Flowers were used to adorn the exterior of our house, and inside they held a place of honor atop antique and vintage tables made of cherry, walnut, and tiger maple.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_2hwKFaWQfc/U3zShNi1jQI/AAAAAAAAL1c/yl7vfe28-xM/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0320-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_2hwKFaWQfc/U3zShNi1jQI/AAAAAAAAL1c/yl7vfe28-xM/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0320-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
People used to stop and tell my parents how beautiful their yard was, especially in the spring when it was dressed in the latest finery of daffodils, tulips, cherry and plum blossoms, plus an array of other colorful blooms.<br />
<br />
And on the farm property we own, my father decided to plant a half acre of Cosmos one year in shades ranging from deep fuchsia to white with just a hint of pink. It was a show stopper, and something I intend to attempt at my own home this year...I have a bag full of Cosmos seed that promises to cover an acre! All I need is someone to plow up the area and I'll be set to create my color explosion.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BqmTvGisjC0/U3zShF0BmXI/AAAAAAAAL1I/imiAEyfU62s/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0329-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BqmTvGisjC0/U3zShF0BmXI/AAAAAAAAL1I/imiAEyfU62s/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0329-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
But of all the flowers my parents, grandparents, and friends all nurtured over the years, roses were never at the top of the list. Sure, we had ramblers that managed, against all odds, to find their way into the nooks and crannies around various outbuildings, but formal roses just weren't on the menu for my family.<br />
<br />
And yet my mother would drool when we visited historic homes and their formal rose gardens. But I think she saw her house as a more humble abode, not worthy of such a prim and proper flower.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-f_Ktu9UfSjE/U3zSiAxZPmI/AAAAAAAAL04/Ve9zFO4fkOA/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0335-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-f_Ktu9UfSjE/U3zSiAxZPmI/AAAAAAAAL04/Ve9zFO4fkOA/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0335-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
I think I likely had that notion for many years as well, until I met Connie of <a href="http://hartwoodroses.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Hartwood Roses</a>. One short email exchange, or better yet, an in-person convo and visit to Connie's beautiful gardens will convince even the faintest of heart to grow roses.<br />
<br />
There is just something about a rose that is unlike any other flower, and I'm a devoted fan of LOTS of flower species, but I am now addicted to roses! Maybe it's their scent, or it could be their gorgeous shades that change as they mature and later wane...I don't know, but I do know that I love them.<br />
<br />
I also love that their blossoms last well beyond my beloved peonies, lilacs, cherry blossoms...the list goes on and on. And it is no surprise that royalty have prized, perfected, and pursued these delicate flowers for centuries. I now join their ranks of admirers, and I bought 2 new David Austin rose bushes yesterday at a local nursery. I had just left the nursery when my sister texted me with a picture saying she had also bought a David Austin, her first, just a half hour before at the same nursery. I told her congratulations and gave her the "now you've gone and done it" talk, knowing she too will turn into one of those crazy rose loving gardners! :)<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-OQT9eM_HRR8/U3zSjF0L0YI/AAAAAAAAL1A/JBI2KI2HF9Y/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0338-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-OQT9eM_HRR8/U3zSjF0L0YI/AAAAAAAAL1A/JBI2KI2HF9Y/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0338-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Some things need to be anticipated, like a big bunch of rose blossoms to grace your desk as you work, or a bowl of fresh, ripe strawberries grown organically and locally!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-buq5regjk7s/U3zSkKX4Y1I/AAAAAAAAL1M/Kkdf8QnuBPE/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0342-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-buq5regjk7s/U3zSkKX4Y1I/AAAAAAAAL1M/Kkdf8QnuBPE/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0342-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Maybe if we had these things at our disposal all year long we wouldn't appreciate their flavor, their scent, the magical impact they have on our senses. Worth the wait?...you betcha!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Other things I've been waiting on that are now here...</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
1. Peonies</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
2. Hummingbirds</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
3. Lightning Bugs (just a few so far)</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
4. Sleeping with the windows open at night</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
5. Wearing shorts and flip flops</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
6. The smell of freshly mown grass</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
How about you, what do you wait for each spring?</div>

<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-G6TmucOlZuM/U3UJvtnW14I/AAAAAAAAL0c/9uWOYapawxA/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0310-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-G6TmucOlZuM/U3UJvtnW14I/AAAAAAAAL0c/9uWOYapawxA/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0310-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Last fall I received a lovely email from one of the editors at Artful Blogging asking if I would like to be featured in their spring 2014 issue. I was on deadline at the time, and had too many things on my plate, so I politely declined and let them know how appreciative I was that they even asked!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-TqGjqJdy2vE/U3UJvnfIarI/AAAAAAAAL0A/jiQP0KPCG-0/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0312-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-TqGjqJdy2vE/U3UJvnfIarI/AAAAAAAAL0A/jiQP0KPCG-0/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0312-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Much to my surprise, instead of saying "ok thanks, see ya later," the editor asked if I would consider being in the summer 2014 issue instead as it would give me more time to write my piece. I immediately said yes, and though I still wonder why the heck they picked me...let's face it there are some truly Artful blogs out there, that blow mine WAY out of the water, I am so thankful they did include me.<br />
<br />
When I received my contributor copy a couple of weeks ago, I was tickled to see one of my images on the cover. If you've read my blog for awhile, then you know how much I LOVE tea, especially the Laduree Marie Antoinette tea I picked up in Paris, so I was thrilled to see that they selected that image for the cover.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-o-Qtm2BiI_I/U3UJxLjXJ4I/AAAAAAAAL0Q/B1nMcQaLmhc/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0316-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-o-Qtm2BiI_I/U3UJxLjXJ4I/AAAAAAAAL0Q/B1nMcQaLmhc/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0316-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
The spread inside the magazine didn't disappoint either, and they did a great job of grouping my images together to compliment the story. I was also super excited to see that Mr. Quinn and Misty Belle made the cut...I wonder if they'll start getting fan mail?! *winks*<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eYRqaq8DceE/U3UJwoEQSHI/AAAAAAAAL0M/2dr8YUTEQOU/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0315-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eYRqaq8DceE/U3UJwoEQSHI/AAAAAAAAL0M/2dr8YUTEQOU/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0315-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
I have to say that the Summer 2014 Issue of Artful Blogging is full of beautiful images, talented artisans, and inspiring stories that have introduced me to a whole new group of talented folks I might never have found on my own. I am in very good company in this issue!<br />
<br />
Thank you Artful Blogging and your wonderful staff for letting me be a part of your beautiful publication...I am humbled and appreciative!<br />
<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The weather here today is beyond gorgeous, and I wish everyday could be just like this! My neighbor gifted me with some lovely Persian Lilac blossoms and with the windows open and a cool breeze blowing through, my entire house smells divine!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
This is still one of my all time favorite images I have ever taken. I don't know why, there's nothing extraordinary about it, and I've even featured it here on my blog before. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I think it may have something to do with Mother's Day fast approaching that makes me feel connected to all creatures who are mothers. And this year we are once again gifted with a nesting pair of bluebirds in our backyard box. The female bluebird is steadfast in her quest to turn those 3 tiny blue eggs into successful young bluebirds, and later, productive adults...not unlike ourselves as we raise our young.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
My own mother will have been gone 10 years this August, and though I fair well with it 99% of the time, I can't help but think of what a wonderful influence she was on me in so many ways, and how I wish she could see the things I've accomplished, both personally and professionally. I know that she can see me and my accomplishments, I feel her all around me, but to pick up the phone and be able to tell her that I'm older and wiser now, that I get some of the things about her that would, on occasion, drive me batty, would be priceless.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
We sometimes take things for granted, like being able to tell someone how much they mean to you, or even how much they drive you crazy! The assumption is that that can wait until later, but often it can't. My mother was fiercely loyal, a worrier by nature, and someone who would have laid down her life for any one of her children...these are just some of the traits I inherited from her. I am also too mouthy for my own good sometimes, opinionated, and a bit overbearing...also some traits I can attribute to her...but ones I cherish none the less.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I stumbled across this wonderful video tonight as I was surfing for nothing in particular, though somehow I think I was meant to see it, meant to share it! I know it's a few days too early, but then again waiting until Sunday may just be too late, so I want to wish each of you who have taken on the demands, the worry, the sleepless nights, but most of all, the indescribable joy of being a mother a very Happy Mother's Day! It's not a job that everyone wants or that some should tackle, but it is the most important position I have or will ever hold!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-q53pNB8KWM8/U2FM5WViAxI/AAAAAAAALy0/o5RaEUmu824/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0291-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-q53pNB8KWM8/U2FM5WViAxI/AAAAAAAALy0/o5RaEUmu824/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0291-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
The rain and wind haven't let up for days here, and although it makes it hard to get outside to mow the grass, the spring flowers are loving life these days.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YN4RmX0XRUM/U2FM4laGDpI/AAAAAAAALyg/S-a9zsFUdec/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0284-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YN4RmX0XRUM/U2FM4laGDpI/AAAAAAAALyg/S-a9zsFUdec/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0284-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
The lilac bush we planted last spring is rewarding us with a handful of blossoms that smell like heaven. <br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nJvywMI9cVw/U2FM4YfZDUI/AAAAAAAALyk/wcoW32iyzWE/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0285-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nJvywMI9cVw/U2FM4YfZDUI/AAAAAAAALyk/wcoW32iyzWE/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0285-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
And columbine flowers in shades of deep purple and magenta are spreading like wildfire in our front flower bed, even with the weeds trying to take their place. Hang in there columbine...when the rain ends we'll come to your rescue!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-sKDrEJxW500/U2FM4VskzVI/AAAAAAAALyc/UnHbgU6rcTo/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0280-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-sKDrEJxW500/U2FM4VskzVI/AAAAAAAALyc/UnHbgU6rcTo/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0280-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
I ventured out during a break in between downpours today to cut a few of these lovely blossoms to brighten my house and fill my senses. There is nothing quite like the scent of a fresh lilac bloom...it makes my heart skip a beat and reminds me of my grandmother who loved lilacs as much as I do.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nkGif76K-dU/U2FM5O8tJ6I/AAAAAAAALy4/3paA2pLJmSE/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0289-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nkGif76K-dU/U2FM5O8tJ6I/AAAAAAAALy4/3paA2pLJmSE/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0289-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I think flowers are medicine for the soul. And though I would probably never fill my home with purple or even lavender furnishings or accessories, I still love the color and enjoy having my own little purple haze each spring as these regal colors fill my garden, and ultimately my vases.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Do you have a favorite color springtime blossom?</div>

<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-gwDVJQMCkQ0/U1lWHTKpahI/AAAAAAAALyM/gbUr_W-6wuo/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0213.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-gwDVJQMCkQ0/U1lWHTKpahI/AAAAAAAALyM/gbUr_W-6wuo/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0213.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Most of the photos I post on my blog have very little manipulation done to them in Photoshop, Lightroom, etc. while others get more of the full "treatment." I have no qualms about talking an image and playing with it until I get the image on screen that lives in my head.<br />
<br />
My last post, which featured pics of dandelions, had almost no tweaking done to each image. I think I made a small adjustment to the contrast on a few, while most were just cropped so that the image showed more detail of my subject.<br />
<br />
Yesterday, while sitting in my bedroom, I noticed the bluebirds happily landing on the big iron plant hook next to our fence and so I grabbed my camera in hopes of capturing one so that I could create a composited image with some cherry blossoms I shot more than a week ago...see photo above.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zZ4exAofmHM/U1lV2LmpiDI/AAAAAAAALyA/uFxLmkxCLwA/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0265.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zZ4exAofmHM/U1lV2LmpiDI/AAAAAAAALyA/uFxLmkxCLwA/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0265.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I can count on less than one hand the number of non HDR, true composited images (two or more images merged together to create one) I have created since I began taking pictures, but every now and then I have to urge to create one.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
It's not that I think combining images is bad, or less than other artistic forms of photography...though some snooty, photography types might beg to differ...the truth is that combining images, when done well, is time consuming and hard! At least for me it is, so until I dramatically improve my skill set, I will stick with single images for the most part.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
So, a happy bluebird obliged and I was off to the races to create a bluebird and cherry blossom extravaganza! :)</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-y98bPP9GLEE/U1lV2FVgjII/AAAAAAAALyI/JCRepMoKB7E/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-Bluebird-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-y98bPP9GLEE/U1lV2FVgjII/AAAAAAAALyI/JCRepMoKB7E/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-Bluebird-2.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
In order to combine images...you have to first start off with really good quality pics. Even if you plan to add layers, use actions, etc. to create the finished image, I believe that there is no real substitute for good original images.<br />
<br />
In the picture above I have cut and copied the bluebird from the original picture, rotated and cropped the original cherry blossom picture, and combined the two...all using Photoshop.<br />
<br />
As you can tell...it looks like a photoshopped image...the bird has way too much sunlight on it compared to the blossoms...and the whole image looks very cut and pasted.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aBF56aclCAk/U1lV0a_-NaI/AAAAAAAALxo/z8BOolyyXA4/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-Bluebird-2-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aBF56aclCAk/U1lV0a_-NaI/AAAAAAAALxo/z8BOolyyXA4/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-Bluebird-2-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
The next thing to do is to soften the edges of the bird to make it blend more seamlessly into the other image, and to mess with the exposure levels, temperature, saturation levels, and contrast levels to make the two images appear more as one...but it's not there yet...it needs layer masks and other tricks to help the two images marry one another.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pqtVS3ydigs/U1lV0hu0svI/AAAAAAAALxs/BWxf0ReFAxw/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-Bluebird-2-Edit-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pqtVS3ydigs/U1lV0hu0svI/AAAAAAAALxs/BWxf0ReFAxw/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-Bluebird-2-Edit-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Time for a few texture layers to be added, all the while, adding and removing the texture from various parts of the image to make them recede or pop out more from the image. Here, the bird is still too bright and his left claw is way too in focus compared to the out of focus branch he's standing on...so still more work to be done.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-eW2tmDM09Y4/U1lV0q05JbI/AAAAAAAALxw/A8vseHmktpU/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-Bluebird-2-Edit-Edit-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-eW2tmDM09Y4/U1lV0q05JbI/AAAAAAAALxw/A8vseHmktpU/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-Bluebird-2-Edit-Edit-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
More actions and many more layers later...I probably have 30 to 40 separate layers on here by now, and a multitude of actions...but I'm getting closer to what I want. It looks less photorealistic...check. The brightness of the bird is now gelling better with the paleness of the cherry blossoms...check. And I've added some decorative swirls and distressing to make it look more vintage...check. <br />
<br />
When I say actions...I don't often use the pre-packaged actions sold by various companies, though I have used them in the past, I find they don't allow me to fine tune things as much as I sometimes want. I prefer to make my adjustments by hand, using various software, to achieve the results I want...but if you find that you love pre-set actions, then go for it! The beauty of photography, or any art form, is that there is no right or wrong!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0JRf6V4zhF0/U1lV1lmUqyI/AAAAAAAALyE/xtKGj6DNFqY/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-Bluebird-2-script.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0JRf6V4zhF0/U1lV1lmUqyI/AAAAAAAALyE/xtKGj6DNFqY/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-Bluebird-2-script.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
In this final image I am pretty close to the image I had in mind before I even snapped the bluebird shot, and I'm pretty satisfied with the finished product...though I often go back in sometimes weeks or months later and play a little more...just for fun.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The only difference between the last shot and the one before it is the addition of a french script overlay from one of the documents I brought back from the fleamarket in Paris. I laid it on top of the image and then erased 100% of it off of the blossoms and the birds so that it appears to float in the background. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I spent a few hours on this...and had I been going for perfection I could have spent days on one image...something the real pros of photo compositing easily do.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I hope that if you are nervous about trying your hand at any type of art, especially photography, that you will explore all forms of it and throw back that curtain to see what you can learn from behind it taking on what might seem like an impossibly hard thing to master!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
This post is dedicated to my dear, dear friend Jim "Papa Jim" Williams who lost his long battle with cancer on Tuesday night. He will be remembered as an amazing...husband, father, grandfather, friend, police officer, gamer, gentle giant, and above all else, gentlemen! You will be missed my friend, more than you know! </div>

They say the pollen this year is going to be worse than it has been in years.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Bu8vdaoULPM/U1clUs-3gPI/AAAAAAAALww/brlf_hepaz0/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0239-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Bu8vdaoULPM/U1clUs-3gPI/AAAAAAAALww/brlf_hepaz0/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0239-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
I have been hacking and coughing since I mowed our front yard last Monday...a week ago.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-CFd4ni7w1Xc/U1clUSg6fAI/AAAAAAAALws/5cZCubV0s8o/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0245-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-CFd4ni7w1Xc/U1clUSg6fAI/AAAAAAAALws/5cZCubV0s8o/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0245-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
I don't normally have issues with allergies, though I seem to recall saying that same thing last year as I was sneezing and wheezing?! And silly me thought I didn't need to wear a mask while mowing, but I was later proven wrong when I woke up on Tuesday morning, barely able to swallow and with itchy, runny eyes!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-k7wwefMKDqk/U1clUra7RsI/AAAAAAAALw4/firYspxG3Aw/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0244-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-k7wwefMKDqk/U1clUra7RsI/AAAAAAAALw4/firYspxG3Aw/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0244-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Needless to say I have learned my lesson...and with my new found wisdom, I have also banned myself or Mr. Tide from mowing the backyard until we get enough rain to knock down whatever pollen is causing our current discomfort.<br />
<br />
As I gazed out for Earth Day today, on our own little piece of this earth, I realized that our yard is mostly weeds, and if we don't mow it soon, we'll likely lose the dogs in it if we're not careful. The bunnies don't seem to mind though...lots of good dandelion greens to munch on out there!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-h6Pm8-xbXiY/U1clVddnqkI/AAAAAAAALxA/Oxjt8IJBGt4/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0253-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-h6Pm8-xbXiY/U1clVddnqkI/AAAAAAAALxA/Oxjt8IJBGt4/s1600/Kat+Warren+Photography-IMG_0253-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I know they are weeds, but for now, I will have to learn to embrace them and pretend their seeds are tiny parasols for a Downton Abbey style bug lawn party!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
