Those tiny shards, or large hunks of weather worn glass have a story to tell. Maybe they were part of an old rum bottle that sailed the seven seas, or maybe an old glass bottle which contained a message from someone shipwrecked on a desert island somewhere.
Sea glass also comes in a remarkable array of colors, from soft lavender to bright neon green! No matter what the color, there is just something magical about an object that can endure the punishment of the ocean and instead of being destroyed, it becomes something beautiful.
So when Lili from Fearless Nesting had a giveaway of sea glass on her blog, I jumped at the chance to win some pieces from the beautiful coastline of Maine. I've been to Maine, but it was years ago when I was very little and I never found any sea glass to bring back with me. Thanks to Lili, I now have some wonderful sea glass to add to my collection!
Lili packaged my sea glass in the prettiest little hand painted box, with an embossed nautilus shell on top. I plan to use this lovely box to hold some of my favorite jewelry!
Of course Mr. Quinn had to check out what was inside my new box!
See that pretty piece of lavender sea glass on the left, and the wonderful heart shaped piece of brown sea glass?! Beautiful! Thank you Lili!
And speaking of Lili, there's still time to enter my latest Giveaway to win one of Lili's beautiful pieces of pottery. Simply click HERE to find out more!
Oh I love it Kat! Congratulations to you on winning a wonderful giveaway!!! Enjoy that beautiful sea glass, the colours are just gorgeous:) ~ Tina x
ReplyDeleteI just love that it could be hundreds of years old, chucked from an old sea fishing ship! Just beautiful! Congrats on your win! A-M xx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I love sea glass too, the texture and the colors are so soothing. I've never found any in all my years of beachcombing. But I keep looking! Kathy

I love it, too! I first found beach glass - that's what I call it- ten years ago on our honeymoon in Maui. I've loved it ever since. We were in Mexico last summer celebrating our anniversary and I found lots, including a fabulous piece of pottery tumbled smooth.

Beautiful pictures. You know, lavender is one of the rarest colors in sea glass, as is blue! Love your collection and especially your dog checking it out, too cute!
ReplyDeleteLucky you. I have been to countless beaches and I have never found any beach glass. I've always bought mine in little shops near the beach.
ReplyDeleteHi Kat,
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful sea glass, I would love to find some beach glass myself. I love the heart one you found very pretty. Cute box to hold them in.

Congrats on your win! I too love sea glass. I should start my own collection to fill some of my jars. I love the blues & greens the most.
ReplyDeleteLove how your doggie wanted to check it out too...they're so cute like that!! Glad you have some from Maine now, that was cool to hear you once visited Maine as a child. Thanks once again for highlighting me on your beautiful blog! ~Lili
ReplyDeleteCongrats on winning the seaglass. We found a treasure trove of sea glass at a little beach near the docks for the Newfoundland ferry. I think they used to chuck old glasses, bottles, and china overboard and it found its way to this beach. My daughter and I collected a little jar full of seaglass and also worn pieces of pottery and china. I always wish each piece could tell me its story.
ReplyDeleteOoh - what lovely treasure! Congratulations on your win - I am a huge fan of sea glass too! It's always exciting to receive a parcel in the post but this must have been a lovely thing to unwrap x
