I'm a pretty simple girl with pretty simple needs. So when my sister gave me this little solar powered jar and a set of solar orbs for my front yard this past Christmas I was over the moon! She has had some of these little solar powered wonders for a few years and every time I saw hers, I remarked about how much I loved them she apparently made a mental note until she could find some for me which was really sweet of her.
I find them to be simply beautiful in an odd kitschy sort of way. The two orbs out in my front flower bed serve as two tiny beacons that welcome us home after dark. We can even see them from very far away, almost the entire way down our private lane.
But this little unassuming jar sits on the windowsill in our kitchen. It soaks up the sunlight all day, and then when the sun starts to go down it puts on a spectacular light show. It packs quite a punch of color into it's small little body and bursts forth with flashes of purple, aqua, green, and red. Then after a little while the colors become more faint until it finally goes to bed for the night ready to start the day all over again!
Each color is prettier than the last, but the aqua is my favorite!
I love how it transforms itself and brings a smile to my face. It's the simple things in life that make me happy!
I'm linking up for Metamorphosis Monday over at Between Naps on the Porch.

ReplyDeleteThanks everyone! I just spoke to my sister, the one who gave me my cute little light up jar, and she said that it came from Target. She said they have had them the past couple of years closer to springtime, so hopefully they will have them again this year!
