Throwing In The Towel and A Giveaway

One of the best parts of my job, in addition to seeing great homes, is meeting wonderful people.  Often times when I write about someone's home we end up becoming friends.  And because of this, I have a large circle of great people I've met during my time as a writer who have then introduced me to even more wonderful friends...a completely amazing ripple effect that has enriched my life immensely over the years!

Such was the case with Lyla from Old Spool Embroidery!   I met Lyla thanks to the wonderful girls from The Vintage Source when my friend Cathe brought me some of Lyla's wonderful beach inspired embroidered towels as a hostess gift.  I fell in love with these wonderful cotton flour sack towels and Lyla's imaginative designs and posted about them here...before I even knew who Lyla actually was.

One thing led to another, and at one of  The Vintage Source sales a few weeks after I received my gift, I had the chance to meet Lyla and see more of her beautiful towels!

Since that time, I've been dying to introduce you to Lyla and show you some of her wonderful wares!  She has so many wonderful designs to choose from... birds, nautical, patriotic, holiday, and children's themes...so many really wonderful and unique styles there really is something to suit everyone's decor!

With so many great towels to offer, I ended up selecting a few of her fall designs to feature in this post.  And I think you'll agree that these towels are something special!  I love all of them, and found myself having a difficult time trying to choose just one to be my favorite!   Just look at the detail that goes into each one, like the beautiful rooster towel above.

If I had to pick just one...ok 2, it would be this darling set...

I love the saying on this set...If the broom fits...

Fly it!!!   Such a fun way to add some whimsy to your kitchen or bathroom for Halloween don't you think?!

As I snapped away having fun looking at all the different designs Lyla offers, I couldn't help thinking about all the ways you could use these great towels.  Teacher's gifts, for a housewarming gift, hostess gifts...especially if you'll be visiting family or friends for Thanksgiving dinner this year.  And at just $6.00 US a piece, how can you go wrong?!

If you're like me and love them yourself, why not buy a few to decorate your house with as well?  And at that price you can afford to buy some to give and some too keep without feeling even a little bit guilty!

 There are pumpkins and apples...

Reminding us that fall is all about the bounty that surrounds us this time of year.

And why not have your child give his or her teacher an apple towel this Christmas as a thank you for all they do throughout the school year?

Is there someone in your family who makes the best pies every year during the holidays?  This towel would be a great way to show your appreciation for the yummy desserts they bring!

I love the simple detailing on this pumpkin towel.

And don't forget there's still time to pick up a few great towels for Halloween, like this one "witching" a hostess or special friend a Happy Halloween!

This spooky tree would be perfect in a powder room to welcome your guests.

And wouldn't this be perfect in a child's bathroom?!  I love this adorable bewitching doggie towel!

Since we're all a little batty at my house, this Home Sweet Home towel would be very appropriate!

If your tastes run on the more formal side of things, then these great designs will be right up your alley.

 I love the pumpkin one...

Paired with the beautiful witch's hat they would make quite the statement no matter where you decide to hang them!

In case you've skipped past fall decorating and are thinking about Christmas already, you'll love the great Giveaway Lyla has generously offered to one lucky reader!  I'll be posting more of her wonderful holiday designs, like the one pictured above, in a post a little closer to Christmas, but I couldn't pass up this wonderful giveaway!

You see, Lyla has offered to give one of you a set of holiday towels that are just too cute for words!

They feature the days of the week...

Each one more darling than the last...

Embroidered on soft white cotton, these happy little snowmen will bring a smile to your face every day of the week!

Wednesday's snow child is clearly not full of woe!

And Thursday's child seems to have far to crow...ok sorry I couldn't help myself!

I think Friday is my favorite, I love his kicked back attitude...which is what Friday's are all about, right?!

If you're like me and can't snow ski to save your life...straight down the mountain lickity split and completely out of control, then you can simply admire this happy fellow instead!

Lyla normally sells this darling set of 7 towels for $32.00 US but she's generously offered a set for my latest Giveway!!  Thank you Lyla!

Lyla recently...as in yesterday...opened her Etsy store, Old Spool Embroidery, which you can visit by clicking HERE.  Because it's so brand spankin new there aren't a lot of things offered there yet, but don't despair, you can contact her via email at oldspoolembroidery@comcast.net to order some of the wonderful towels you see above.

And soon she'll have everything she has available in her shop including lots more wonderful items that I didn't have room to feature in this post...so check back to her Etsy site often to see what's new!

If you live in southern Maryland and need instant gratification, or one of Lyla's wonderful towels right away, you can stop by The Vintage Source for their big flea market event this weekend!  Lyla's towels will be on sale and ready for immediate pick up!

Ok, so now on to the Giveaway for the Days of the Week Holiday Towels!!!

1.  For one chance to win visit Lyla's Etsy store, Old Spool Embroidery, by clicking HERE and then come back and tell me which towel you loved the most...if you liked one of the ones in my post the best then you can simply tell me which one of those was your favorite!
2.  For a second chance, become a follower and leave me a separate comment letting me know that you've joined in the fun!  If you are already a follower...thank you, and be sure to leave a second separate comment so that you are entered twice!

3.  For a third opportunity to win the towels, Tweet, Facebook, or Blog about the giveaway and then ***come back and leave a 3rd comment letting me know.***

The Giveaway will be open until next Wednesday, October 20th at midnight PST.  Good luck!
