I bought this skeleton years ago, I can't even remember where, but I love the cute sign that hangs around his neck and the cheeky little smile on his face.
When I have him out during the Halloween season he reminds me that friends are always welcome, even if his sign says "fiends"...
We all need friends, they are the family we get to choose and the ones who are often there for us the most during our lives. Kind of the way you all were when I had my grumpy day the other day...so thank you for always leaving kind comments that make me smile even on the dreariest of days! Sometimes I may not be able to reply to all of your lovely messages, but please know that I appreciate each and every one of them!
I also told you about the pumpkins I picked up last Saturday from one of my favorite Mennonite farms. Here are some of the miniature white pumpkins all lined up along the bench on my front porch.
They still need a good bath, but it has been raining the last couple of days, and today it's sunny but a little nippy, so I'll wait and do it this weekend when it's supposed to be a bit warmer. Besides, I kind of like their fresh from the field appearance!
And here are the johnny jump ups from my friend and talented floral designer Doug Vogel! Doug recently took a job with a shop in LaPlata, Maryland called Studio Three, so if you need flowers and live in the area be sure to give him a call!
If you've never visited Michelle's blog then you don't know what you've been missing. She is always full of inspiring design ideas, and her fun loving personality and sweet nature come through loud and clear with every post!
Thank you Michelle for this wonderful award!!
Well as the recipient of this award I'm supposed to share 7 things about myself...of course first and foremost I love my family, but I thought I would share a few other things this time, so here goes, try not to get too excited!
1. You may have figured this out from the last post, but I am married to the greatest guy in the world. My great aunt once said "Wow you have him trained well!" to which I replied "He came pre-trained!"
2. I've always had a little voice that has guided me throughout my life. Call it a guardian angel or whatever you like, but I haven't always listened to it. Once when our daughter was little the voice told me to double check her high chair tray to make sure it was securely fastened...I was rushing around and didn't check, and sure enough she pushed on it and toppled out of the chair. Thankfully she wasn't hurt, but after that I never ignored that little voice ever again and it has served me well over the years! I always say to my family, listen to your gut, and that is why!
3. I am a HUGE procrastinator!
4. I love a clean house, but I don't always have one.
5. I go by lots of different names...Katherine, Kath, Kathy, and Kat...and I answer to all of them!
6. If I won the lottery I would set up a fund to help others travel, I think there is no greater teacher than a trip to a foreign land!
7. I secretly think Martha Stewart was invented by a man to make women feel inadequate about themselves...hehe! Hey it could be true! ;-)
Now I'm supposed to pass this along to several other bloggers, but my policy on that is that I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings by leaving them out. So consider this an invitation to all of you to share 7 things about yourselves...either in a post, or in the comments section!
I hope all of you have a wonderful day and I look forward to reading your comments!
hhhmmmmm ... we must be related!!!
ReplyDeletejoined at the procrastinator hip!!
That's a tough combo - to be a procrastinator and a writer. Good for you that you can make it work. We have some procrastination issues around our house as well. Let's just say my hubby and I never got around to reading "How not to be a Procrastinator".
ReplyDeleteThe pumpkins are so cute and perfect and your little fiend friend is adorable!
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh at the Martha Stewart one, I never thought of it that way, but I think you are right!!! ;)
Thanks for the sweet comments and it is so nice to get to know you a little bit more!
Please don't wash your pumpkins they are gorgeous just the way they are. Reading about Martha gave me a good laugh. I never thought about it that way but now that you mentioned it I believe that it could be true. I always enjoy your posts.

ReplyDeleteI love that bracelet.. it reminds of of candy corn in it's finest form..what a fun piece for fall!
ReplyDeleteYour header photo collage is terrific..
Your skeleton is so funny! I enjoyed your 7 revealing things. I have similar thoughts about Martha. She can't keep a husband! Think about that! Or doesn't want one. hugs♥olive
ReplyDeleteI just love your skeleton and I really, really love that bracelet!! How gorgeous it is!! Love those little white pumpkins too.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you pointed out "fiends" because I read it as friends. And yes he is a cutie.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your award. Michelle is a sweetie and so are you :)
Your fiend skeleton is cute! I love your pumpkins! #2 - I know that voice and usually heed it. If I don't, it usually does not bode well for me. #4 - Sounds like me! #7 - Absolutely loved your Martha Stewart comment!

I'm glad you could post those photos! (They're wonderful!) I was so curious what all your treasures looked like. I love the bracelet!! :D
ReplyDeleteOh, oh your photos... so beautiful. Love your bracelet... and your pumpkins! Glad I am not the only procrastinator out in bloggy land. Our accounts have been sitting since June waiting for me to sort. I pay the bills on time but the paper work that follows...blah...A-M xx
ReplyDeleteHi Kat!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving your post today. Such lovely photos of fall. Your smile is coming through loud and clear.

Kat, I would love to see this funny little skeleton on your door. It would not frighten me at all! I consider myself your freind! THanks for the reminder about friends.
ReplyDeleteAnd it was so much fun to get to know you a little better.
Beautiful images!

Gorgeous bracelet - I'll have to pop over to the site. I enjoyed your facts - and I agree with you regarding Martha Stewart!
ReplyDeleteYour Fiend,
Pondside
Part of being decisive is learning to trust that voice in your gut. That little voice won't steer you wrong, if you listen and heed.
ReplyDeleteI have a '10 Thing' challenge I'm supposed to post about ... been procrastinating, tho. :)
Love that skeleton and I am such a procrastinator too. Blogging has help push me to get some things done!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful way to start my morning -- with that gorgeous photo of the johnny jump-ups which we also refer to as violas, which btw was the name of my late grandma. (how's that for a very long sentence?)
ReplyDeleteThanks. My favorite flower and a sweet memory of my sweet grandma.

Kat -
ReplyDeletecan you tell me which Mennoninte farm you found those wonderful white pumpkins? Brubachers maybe? I really 'need' some
The bracelet is fabulous and I completely agree about the Martha remark !!
It's always fun to learn a little bit more about you Kat. I too know about that inner voice! I have completely fallen in love with white pumpkins and I have scoured the area to find some without success. I've decided I'll just need to grow my own! Your little miniatures are so precious on that bench. And your fall bracelet is so beautiful. ~Lili
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone for your kind comments as always! And Kelly, I found those pumpkins at Stauffers, across from Traditions. I go there every year to get my pumpkins! The little white pumpkins were only 50 cents a piece!
ReplyDeleteLili, I can always ship you some! ;-)
Kat :)
Oh Kat thank you SO much, that is great to know I am just dying for some of those little white pumpkins !!
ReplyDeleteOh Kat, you are so sweet for your offer. Henri is taking me inland tomorrow to a huge place where they just may have white pumpkins, a rural area with a gigantic corn maze. (I even have him looking for them now too!) Thanks very much though Kat! It's a good excuse for me to enjoy a carmel apple while I'm out looking! ~Lili
