Dare I talk about Christmas? You betcha! No, not because I've begun decorating...that is strictly taboo in my house until after Thanksgiving, and usually until the first week in December.
I did however want to show you a little sneak peek at what I picked up at Home Goods the other day...see those silver trees?! I bought a set of three and can't wait to use them this Christmas! They were tucked back in the cabinet after my little shoot though, so don't worry about me rushing the seasons!
But I'm just so darned excited about receiving my new copy of Matthew Mead's latest baby, Holiday With Matthew Mead!!!
The blog for Holiday (a gorgeous new magazine only available through their website) has been tempting me for months now with fabulous vignettes like these!
And even though the holiday season doesn't start for over a month...it never hurts to start thinking about how you want to decorate your home, or what perfect gifts you should add to your list! Dropping hints starts early around my house! ;-)
I have magazines from years ago that are my go to guides each year as I try and turn our house into a winter wonderland, and I know that Holiday With Matthew Mead will be a treasured addition to my collection! The team Matthew assembled to work on his latest venture is full of talented photographers, writers, and creative artisans and is sure to impress!
So click HERE and reserve your copy so that you can be the first on your block to be in the know about what's hot and what's not this holiday season! I know I'll be anxiously awaiting my copy and pouring over it for days when it arrives in just a few weeks!
While I sure wouldn't want to start decorating now (I can hardly get Halloween out), it's true that it doesn't hurt to start thinking about it. The problem is, if you don't start thinking now, then what you want is gone. The problem is, I usually don't know what I want to change or what needs a little sprucing up from my old decos, until I get them out.

Oh I just love the silver trees with the white starfish ~ seaside holiday doecortaing is lovely. I wish I could get away with it - Landlocked in CT. Speaking of locations, I need your address to get your giveaway gift out to you. Thanks - Dee
ReplyDeleteI agree about having to shop so early to get the best stuff, it's a little crazy and overwhelming sometimes to think about Christmas when it's still September or October! But these days you almost have to! And it is hard to know what you need or want to replace!
ReplyDeleteAnd Dee I sent you another email with my addy! Thanks so much!
Kat :)
gorgeous! I love the pink mercury glass too! cute, cute, cute!
ReplyDeleteI have to admit I have been thinking about the holidays soon. They seem to come so quickly once Halloween is over. Love your HG finds!
ReplyDeleteSometimes I want to
ReplyDeletefast-forward past
Halloween and Thanksgiving
and just get on to the
Christmas decorating!
I ordered Matthew's book...
I collect holiday books
and magazines and can't
wait to pour over it.
Lovely images, Kat!

I'd like to ask those of you who also collect/amass/hoard magazines, how do you store them and where? And how do you know when you've crossed the line from "saving for future reference" to actually hoarding? I had several years' worth of Gourmets I finally unloaded this past summer. I no longer referred to them, it was all online, and since I didn't use them actively, I could not justify them in my limited storage space. But Country Home, now, that is another question altogether. I do NOT want to part with them, but yards and yards worth of old magazines start me thinking I've crossed the line...Anyone else?
ReplyDeleteBrooke, I have them in various places. Some are just torn out pages that I keep in a file cabinet, so not the whole magazine. Those are mostly pics of things like doors, windows, trim, specific rooms, things I need for inspiration for remodeling.
ReplyDeleteThen I have a few stacks on coffee tables, and I weed those out when the stack gets too high. Then I have a few plastic file holders that I use to store my favorites in, like Country Home...Matthew Mead's other love, he was with them before they folded. They are back again, but it's mostly a rehashing of their old articles.
I do periodically sort through and get rid of the ones I don't read or love anymore, and often times my friends and I will exchange magazines to keep from becoming hoarders...or at least changing what we hoard anyway. That makes us non-hoarders right?! Yes, I'll go with that thought!
Kat :)
I am still trying to get my Halloween decorating done. Some years it takes me longer, but I'm always ready for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteThose are so pretty!! I love how you placed them with the starfish! I actually went shopping for Christmas things today at Hobby Lobby! :) I love Christmas and can't wait to start decorating, but I will, like you, wait until after Thanksgiving...or at least that night! :)
ReplyDeleteAhhhh, I love you even more now that I know you don't "do" Christmas until after Thanksgiving! :-)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, those decorations look beautiful! Like you, I do Thanksgiving decorations and the Christmas ones don't come out until the 1st or 2nd week in December!
ReplyDeleteSo funny, Kat - I was at HOme Goods TODAY.. and picked up a nutcracker for my mantel collection.. I was hoping no one was looking :-)
ReplyDeleteThose silver trees are really pretty Kat, but my eye immediately went to that gorgeous piece of pink mercury glass. Now put it away. Haha I have some stuff waiting in the wings too that I keep looking at longingly! December 1 is my "okay to decorate" date because it's the day after Henri's birthday. ~Lili
ReplyDeleteHi Kat!
ReplyDeleteI've been kinda laxed lately getting over to see you. I'm busy opening up another booth with a friend of mine and we have been running the roads in search of good "junk!"
I love the silver trees and might just have to make a trip to HG's! LOL! The vingette has all my favorite ingredients. And, I think I need a copy of Matthew's book too.
hugs
Sissie
I bought Christmas presents today. I cannot wait to start decorating. I really cannot wait to see everyone's blogs because I was not here last year!
ReplyDeleteI'm in love w/ the little pink vase, too. Love the pink roses and white starfish--great vignette.
ReplyDeleteRE magazines, there are some that I keep intact, e.g, the original Victoria. I also kept the Cookie issues from Gourmet as I do use them. Otherwise, I've learned to tear out salient pages and file them. Although I'd like to say that I'm judicious about weeding out these file folders on a regular basis, I don't get the inspiration to do so.
I can't wait to receive my copy...looks like it will be fun!!
ReplyDeleteHi Kat, I have been pulling out my Christmas decorating books and magazines lately. It is fun to look through them and maybe find a new project. The silver tree is wonderful and looks great with the white starfish and pink votive.
ReplyDeletexoxo, Sherry
Hi Kat! Such a pretty seaside Christmas vignette, isn't pink and silver just the thing? One year, I did pink, silver and blues, with white seashells dipped in sparkly glitter. Turned out beautifully! Passing on your blog on my fb page - www.facebook.com/caronsbeachhouse
ReplyDeleteHi Kat!, it might go unsaid, but I've been "thinking" about Christmas, I kinda ease into Christmas in the middle of November with doing a "nature inspired" tree theme. That way I get my trees up and my "orange" for fall goes bye bye. AND, how I wish we had a Home Goods around here!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you came by.
hugs,
Debra
Hi Kat! I am so partial to trees... and I love your new upscale silver ones.
ReplyDeleteI'll be looking for all your great inspiring Christmas ideas in Decmber!!!!
I don't decorate before Thanksgiving either. I call that "Cross Holidation". A big no-no. I love to enjoy each holiday!
But the sneek peek did get me a little excited for Christmas decorating!

Sorry, it's Yvonne. I have been battling virtago for over a week and it is hard to type.
ReplyDeleteYvonne
Your pink candle reminded me that Michael's has pink mercury glass sconces this year in their Christmas section. They seem to match your decor. And no, it's not to early to start thinking about Christmas. LOL! I've already been thumbing through the holiday magazines in the stores.
ReplyDeleteNoooooooo, not Christmas!
ReplyDeleteThe Grinch
Too funny Kat! I have been staring at the pumpkins waiting for an idea to spark and yet my mind keeps drifing to Christmas decorating!
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling those pumpkins won't be moving too far...
Kat,
ReplyDeleteI just love the look of the silver trees with the starfish...great combo!
Blessings,
Linda
Love the silver trees! Everything shiny is festive and Christmasy to me, haha!
ReplyDeleteI am afraid I am pushing the season too but I just can't help myself. Love your silver trees....they will be so much fun to work with for the holidays....we all love a little bling. xo
ReplyDeleteHello from Frog Hollow Farm! I have several books that I always go to for Christmas decorating in our home but I couldn't help but look at the Christmas decorations in Marshalls and TJMaxx over the past few weeks. Your silver trees are just perfect - and they look so elegant in the photos with that adorable pink vase - it looks like mercury glass, so pretty! Today is an absolutely glorious day up here in NW NJ - hope it's a great day down by you! Ciao, bella!
ReplyDeleteI am so ready to start my Christmas decorating! I also can't wait to receive my copy of the magazine-it looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes,
Natasha.
