Upon Reflection

Thanks so much for your wonderful response to my latest giveaway!  I'm always blown away by how supportive you all are and how willing you are to give small business owners a chance.  So thank you for your great comments and for spreading the word.  In this economy, artisans, like Lyla, can use all the help they can get!

Fall is making her presence known here in southern Maryland.  Leaves are falling, skies are blue, and there is a chill in the air.

And there is just a touch of color here and there up and down the creek.

The other evening I took the camera out thinking I would capture the beautiful bright blue sky and a few changing leaves, but instead I was struck at how dead calm the water was.

It was what we call "perfect water skiing" water...calm like glass.

The calm water creates a mirror image of the sky and the shoreline.

And even the modest amount of autumn color was beautiful reflected in the water and with the setting sun illuminating the trees.

I could have stayed here until the sun set, just gazing into the stillness...but Mr. Tide came home from work and we had things to do, life to live...so I left this peaceful spot but took a little bit of its serenity with me...

To keep in reserve for another day when I would need it.  Like today, when my son had surgery to have his wisdom teeth out, and Ms. M had surgery to put a pacemaker in.  These are the days I need a little extra calm in my back pocket.

Thankfully Bugs came through his surgery with flying colors, and I'm still waiting to hear how Ms. M fared...fingers crossed she did great too!

I hope each of you find a little bit of solitude and calm this weekend!

Chania, I didn't post about his surgery before today, so you didn't miss it! And you know, I'm not sure how or why we started calling our son Bugs, but he has been called Bugs since he was a wee one!
