Perfect

Anyone who knows me, knows that I am not a morning person.  I tend to go to bed late and wake up after the sun is up and brightly shining.

So when I asked Mr. Tide to wake me this morning as he got ready for work (when he goes into the city he has to get up at an ungodly hour) so that I could watch the royal wedding, even he was skeptical that I would actually get up.

I have to admit that after going to bed at 1:00 am, I was a bit skeptical myself, but when he did wake me this morning I was bright eyed and bushy tailed and ready to tune in to watch history in the making.

I haven't followed along all these months with the hype and speculation about this wedding, but I think as a mother there was a part of me that wanted to be there for Prince William on such an important day when his own mother would be absent, at least physically.

And as I sipped tea I purchased in London from my very English Wedgwood china I was filled with emotion, something that caught me completely by surprise.  If I was asked to pick just one word to sum up what I thought of the wedding, it would be "perfect."  From the dress to the pomp and circumstance it was all very magical to watch.

Although we all know that life is never perfect, I hope for Kate and William what I hope for every bride and groom...that their life will be as close to perfect as it can be, and that they will know the kind of love that Mr. Tide and I have shared for almost 25 years!

Today, I think all of us were a wee bit British!

  1. Very cool post! I too rose for a bit of the service because I have to get up and head to work. UGH! But I enjoyed the ceremony and the dress! Elegant much like Kate. I wish them the very best. I will celebrate 27 years with my Sweets this Tuesday May 3rd. Ah...the memories. I love your china and the tea sounds delicious. Hugs Anne

  2. Wasn't Kate stunning? She reminded me of photos of Princess Grace of Monaco from days gone by. A perfect day for the two of them with even the sun breaking through the clouds. I wish them happiness.

  3. I got up at six just in time to see her walk down the aisle. I googled the time line and knew I didn't have to be up at four. It was perfect!

  4. It really was just perfect. She is such a stunning bride. Loved her dress, and I loved that she wore her hair down. I thought Pippa was gorgeous as well. I, too rose early with a cuppa tea. Thanks for sharing.

  5. Kat,
Lovely post! I haven't followed the wedding, and I didn't watch it, but this post reminded me - if I had seen it, I would have cried too. Weddings have that effect on me.
Have a great weekend, fellow parent of a 19 year old!

  6. It was a lovely wedding and I wish the best for them. I hope there isn't the media circus that poor Diana had to endure. That was a wonderful post.

  7. It was a lovely day, there's an Irish blessing about being able to comb each others gray hair. I hope they have a long and happy life blessed with children!

Loved your photos! I had my tea and made scones last night for this morning!

  11. I missed the wedding but saw some highlights and she was beautiful! I wondered what Diana would have been like, what she would have done and said. I am pulling for them and I hope that their love can last through time.

  13. I agree....it was perfect from start to finish. Simple. Elegant. Posh. Perfect. And, then that darling couple gave us a 2nd kiss and left their reception in a convertible with balloons tied on. Just showing us they may be Royal, but they also have a wonderful sense of humor and their place in history!

Wishing them a long and happy marraige!!!

  16. Oh Kat your pictures were glorious, especially the teacup with the blossom. And the wedding caught me off guard as I forgot about it, but Henri had the news on when I woke up at 6:30 and for the life of me I couldn't understand why they were getting married so early, until Henri reminded me of the time difference. DUH! I guess I really was still too sleepy. It really was perfect, glad I got to watch it. xo ~Lili
