Look Inside Yourself

Today was a very good day.  I got some things checked off my list and then I had lunch with some very good friends...more on that in a later post.

And my new camera arrived, but these pictures weren't taken with my new camera.  They were however taken with my new Canon L series lens and even without the new camera body I can see a big difference.

Of course, so can my pocketbook now that I've invested in some new equipment, but sometimes you just have to go for it.  And 36 months same as cash doesn't hurt either...you know what I mean?!

I'm patiently waiting for the new camera's battery to fully charge...tap, tap, tap.  Ok, that's a bald faced lie, I'm not a very patient person, but batteries and electricity don't seem to give a darn whether you're patient or not!  :-(

So I'll have to wait just a little longer, which isn't bad since I've been dreaming of this day for a long time!  The lovely and photographically talented Maria over at Dreamy Whites is to blame for all of this impatience and anticipation.  Personally I think Maria should change the name of her blog to Dreamy Photos!!!  That girl can take some interior shots that will leave you speechless.

Maria and I have talked photography stuff before, but this time she wrote me and told me that she uses the very same camera...a Canon 5D Mark II, that I've been wanting, for forever...or at least since I got serious about photography!  And when I wrote her last week to ask her what equipment she used, she told me she had the exact set up I had been waiting to buy, right down to the lenses.  I felt like it was a sign, or maybe an excuse to give myself permission to get a new camera.  And then when Best Buy bumped up their same as cash financing to 36 months I said...ok, now that's a sign, and so I ordered it!

So if you came here hoping to find words of wisdom about looking inside yourself, or some powerful message, sorry I don't really have any of that to offer today.  But my new lens does let me look inside a flower and capture it's beauty...so that's pretty close!

I have a feeling that a lot of things will get a closer look inside once that dang battery charges!  Now, if I could just get a sign that I should go buy a macro lens and a telephoto...  But right now I'm pretty sure the sign says, "ok kid you've reached your credit limit...move along, nothing to see here!"

As we wandered through Lowes last night I told Mr. Tide that I totally get that saying that "you have to spend money to make money."  I've really got the "spend" part down!

And for those of you who were looking for a powerful message...here is a video.  It's one of my favorite songs, and if you watch this video the whole way through, keep in mind it was done in ONE continuous take.  Let's hope Christina can take her own advice!

Spread the Love... (which I totally forgot to do in my last post, sorry!)

  4. Hearting that L Lens... for dang sakes... does it get any better than that? I think not.

I've always loved Christina's singing...she's like an L lens... doesn't get any better.

  5. You little stink pot, did you get the 24-70 lens? ;-)

I want the Nikon equivalent, but it's around $1900, so I need to see some money from my latest photo shoot gig before I can think about getting it.

    Looking good!!!

    Anne

  6. enjoy that camera Kat...can;t wait to see your shots with it.

I agree about Maria's photos. I have Fifi's new book and love it, but it was interesting to see the subtle differences between Maria's own photos and those in the book.

Have wonderful fun exploring your new "Investment"

  11. Kat, how nice to get the camera you wanted. Hopefully around Christmas I will move up to another camera. Not one as fancy as yours though, but better than the one I have. Then I will have to learn how to use it and I am not good at that.

  16. I am so excited for you...I know how much your photography is psyching you up! I still putter around with my little old camera, just taking family and vacation pictures and some for my blog, so I have no reason to get a better camera, although I do get envious!! ;-D I am impatient, too, more so when it comes to reading directions or taking a class in learning how to use something more techy. So... I am so proud of you!!

    XO,
    Jane
