Shop Til You Drop Part Two and A Giveaway!

Welcome to Part Two of Shop Til You Drop.  Today we are visiting another great local store, The Apple Basket located in Mechanicsville, Maryland.

The Apple Basket is housed in an old 1800's building that once served as a General Store.  Today, it is filled with antiques, collectibles, and lots of wonderful items for Spring!  As you meander from room to room, both upstairs and downstairs, you're sure to find beautiful gifts, and of course a little something for yourself!

As soon as you step in the door you are greeted by this beautiful springtime display.  Isn't that giant foil bunny darling?  And don't you wish it was really made of chocolate?  At least this one will be around for many years of decorating enjoyment, unlike a chocolate one that would be gone in just a few days!

Look at this cute little bunny who is eyeing some of those yummy carrots!  And those sweet little chicks are looking a little hungry too!

This beautiful black cupboard is for sale too and I love those polka dot bowl sets!  They would be perfect for holding fresh strawberries or just about anything at your next spring or summer party!

I love vintage inspired decor, and these bunnies look like they jumped right off the pages of a child's antique storybook.

And look at this flower festooned little fellow.  I'm sure he would bring good luck to anyone's house and garden!

Every well dressed lady needs a proper hankie for the springtime, and these are just perfect.  And wouldn't some pretty floral dishes be a wonderful way to welcome your guests for Easter dinner?!

And speaking of antique dishware, you'll have plenty to choose from at The Apple Basket!

Like this gorgeous vintage covered cake plate.  I love the gilding and the delicate floral design, so pretty!

These lovely gift bags are actually made of metal and would make a wonderful hostess gift filled with some sweet treats!  Or buy all three and use them to create a beautiful display just as you see here!

Why not deck your table out with lots of springtime greenery this year?!  You'll find lots of wonderful green glass and accessories to help you set a striking and colorful Easter table this year!

If you are a bunny lover like I am, then you'll love this precious little cottontail.  I love the little basket and cute pink plaid ribbon tied around her neck!  I think she's all set to help deliver eggs to all the boys and girls!

And how about a wonderful set of stacking boxes to add a vintage feel to your home?  Each individual box features wonderful artwork reminiscent of old fashioned Easter cards!

I hope you've enjoyed our little tour of The Apple Basket!  Be sure to stop by soon for a visit and please tell them that Kat from Low Tide High Style said hello!

And before you go, don't forget to enter my latest Giveaway!  You see, while I was at The Apple Basket the other day, they were so sweet and generous and they gave me two of these darling vintage inspired Sand Buckets!  I showed you mine in my post (here) about our daughter's bedroom makeover.  But I have an extra one of these beautiful buckets to offer to one lucky reader!

This darling little sand bucket and shovel would be the perfect addition to any home whether you live near the water or just love the idea of making sandcastles!

I'd like to give a special Thank you to The Apple Basket for donating this wonderful prize!

So here's how to enter...

  1. I don't remember the name anymore, but my favorite beach is in Maui. My husband and I went there for our 5 year anniversary (12 years ago). We played in the ocean like children and had so much fun!
The vintage beach bucket is so neat! I am currently working on a beach theme in my boys bathroom and the bucket would look so cute in there.

  5. I have no particular beach in. The ones I love are the ones that my kids can run on and find treasures for me like sea glass, which I have been collecting over the past 10 years. Watching their little footprints in the sand makes me happy. Love the bucket to store all of their finds.

  6. My favourite beach is Sauble Beach in Ontario, Canada, not so much for the sand and water, but fo the people watching. It is a very active place full of large families and young people all having such a great time boogie boarding, water tramopline-ing, shopping the boardwalk and eating funnel cakes. It has an energy and vitality and it feels a little retro, I always feel like I am stepping bak in time. Also Assateague Island beach in Maryland because it has wild horses on it and no development. Love the pail, it would be right at home at my little beach theme cottage.

  7. Our favorite beach is on Kiawah Island, SC. We have vacationed there for over twenty years. It is a protected environment and the beach is long and beautiful. At the height of the season, it still feels private!

  8. Ah...Lucy Vincent Beach on Martha's Vineyard. It's where I fell in love with my hubby.

  9. Trunk Bay, St. John. Absolutely the most naturally beautiful beach I have ever been on. Snorkeling is easy for beginners there too. Not crowded, clean, palm trees almost to waters edge.

  10. Kat, what a great store. Boy, if I lived close to it I would definitely go shopping there. Love the vintage bunny and those metal bags would make a great centerpiece filled with flowers. My favorite beach that sticks out the most in my mind was on Cancun. The most beautiful turquoise clear water and bright white sand.

  13. I spent a summer at Panama City Beach, Florida about 25 years ago when I was in college, and was with a group of Campus Crusade for Christ students that witnessed on the beach. It was such a wonderful time, and the water there was beautiful. Such fun memories and a whole hotel full of friends. The sand bucket is adorable, and your daughter's room is awesome. I wish I lived up in your area so I could go to the Apple Basket! It looks marvelous! I LOVE those bags and boxes! And the green glass, and the foil bunny!!! What marvelous colors on that! Anyway, thanks for having a giveaway of such a wonderful item! PICK ME!! ;)

  18. Love the Apple Basket Tour! My favorite beach is Fernandina Florida. They have a lovely campground side that you can pay $1 and stay all day. Piers to walk, surf fishing, and not crowded on that side of the beach! Love to take the grandbabies there to fly kites.

  19. Thank you for the tour, I suddenly want to trash all my plates and buy green glassware. Please don't tell my roomy ;)

  22. Oh I just Love that sweet little bucket. It would be perfect in the guestroom of my little beach house!
My favorite beach is Sea Gull Park--just 2 blocks east, down the street from the little beach house. Many wonderful memories of the kids playing in the sand, splashing in the water and surfing when there were waves. Now I'm enjoying it with my grandchildren. It's just a quiet little neighborhood beach.

  23. Love the covered cake plate and the green depression glass and of course that vintage child's sand bucket. My favorite beach because of it's unique look is Sand Beach in Acadia National Park here in Maine. But I once went to Navarre Beach in Florida and was blown away by how white the sand was...we arrived at night in February one year and I thought it was actually snow, until of course I rolled down the car window. ~Lili

  24. As your last poster said Navarre Beach, Fl is one of the prettiest beaches in the country. I may be a little bias because we lived there for 10 years.

  25. Makena Beach, Maui...but back in time, when you had to go through cane fields and hike to get there...

  27. I'd have to say my favorite beach is 'Seaburn', no one here will have heard of it, it's the beach I grew up near on the North East Coast of England:) Not a fancy beach, but it means I'm 'home' when I'm there, and I love the fish and chips too;)

    ReplyDelete
  28. Oh my! My favorite beach is Destin, Florida for it's beauty. It has clean sugar white sand that squeaks when you walk on it. But, I also have to say Anna Maria, FL because it has all my memories of growing up and it has a aqua/green crystal clear ocean. It is where we take our kids.

  29. OH, I'd love to win this- thanks for entering me! My favorite beach is at our family lakehome in Fairmont MN. We have a nice gently sloping yard and a sand beach that the grandkids really enjoy! Can't wait until it is warm enough to get out on the water again!

  30. By far....my favorite beach is the Outer Banks....doesn't matter if I am at the very northern end at Corolla or at the farthest most point of the Southern, end my heart is at this beach. Someday I would to retire there. :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. Well, I live in the middle of the prairie, so haven't had much beach time in my life. Many years ago we visited Galveston and had a nice day with the family playing in the sand, so I guess that's what I'll choose. :o)

    ReplyDelete
  32. That's easy. I'm a Floridian and have a place in St. Augustine. So I'm going to say St. Augustine Beach! :-) I could also say, Ponte Vedra Beach (love it) and Jax Beach (great place to walk) or Vilano Beach (great place to shell) or Holmes Beach or Long Boat Key or Anna Maria or Destin! LOL! Can you tell that I love Florida??? And I love that most adorable bucket, too. Thanks for the chance to win!

    XO,

    Sheila :-)

  33. Oh I would love to win such a great bucket! Now I guess my favorite beach would have to be whichever one I'm able to get to. Virginia beach wins points for being the closest - it's a great weekend getaway for us -- we have had great vacations at the Outer Banks, NC. Love walking the beach at Folly, SC. Have enjoyed Myrtle Beach, SC - and heading back to Santibel FL in May -- I guess there's no such thing as a "bad beach" in my book!

  34. I have to say that is the cutest little beach bucket I have ever seen. Destin, Florida is my favorite vacation spot -- really hoping to maybe get to take the 3 oldest grands this summer.

  35. Ohhhhhh I love the sand bucket. We have a little lake house and I started collecting these old buckets, but they are hard to come by. I do not have a blog but so enjoy reading and following several blogs.
My favorite beach at this time is Marco Island Florida. You noticed I said at this time because there are so many beautiful beaches. We are just lucky enough to be able to go there once a year. Thank you for the change to win the adorable sand pail.

  36. So so so hard and what a wonderful question! I love love love the beach. I would have to say West Beach in Stamford, CT. I used to call it my beach, so did my girlfriends due to the fact that not only did I live over the rock wall from the beach, but I would be there from dawn until dusk and be completely prepared for whatever was thrown at me, right down to peppermint foot cooling lotion when that sand was just too hot on your feet! Oh how I wish I was at the beach right now! LOVE the bucket!

  37. I love the bedroom! Very sweet. My favorite

  40. My favorite beach is on Ocracoke Island in North Carolina. We happened upon a beach that was nearly deserted in the middle of July and spent the day playing in the surf, watching the plover, and keeping an eye out for sharks. We went there every year when we lived in Virginia.

    ReplyDelete
  41. My favorite beach is right in front of our house1 We live on a small inland lake in SE Wisconsin and over the years all the neighbors pitch in to get loads of sand to spread out on our lakeside. It is such a pleasure coming home from work, pouring a glass of wine and sitting out on our own little beach to unwind! That pail is so cute! It would find a place in our little private beach area!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Even though I live in Connecticut, my favorite beach is definitely Wildwoods, New Jersey! And I just love that nostalgic pail and will be keeping my fingers crossed! :)

  43. A sweet, sunny hello to you Kat! Your post was just the most wonderful wonderland of springtime eye candy. It's hard for me to know which beach is my absolute favorite, because I have memories of different beaches at different times of my life. When I was younger, I have wonderful memories of Beach Haven on Long Beach Island. As a young parent the beach at Wellfleet in Cape Cod was the place we spent many years at with great friends and our children. When my husband and I began traveling we walked beaches on the island of Ischia in Italy and Bavaro Beach in the Dominican Republic. I love each of them best for many different reasons. Ciao, Bella!!

  44. I don't have a favourite sun and sand and swimming type beach, since we don't do that. My favourite beach is Torbay, Newfoundland (just north of St. John's). It is a beach composed of gray and burgandy smooth round rocks. We have some at home and I love how smooth and lovely they are. It is usually cold and damp in Newfoundland so this isn't a swimming type beach, but rather a hunting for good rocks and admiring the scenery type place.

  45. I'm sure an audible gasp will be heard when I tell you my favorite beach is on Galveston Island, just an hour from my home in Houston and the place where all three of my children learned to love fish, crab, shrimp, odd grasses, water and sand. It's not beautiful or scenic, but it is close to home and "our beach." To me that's the best beach ever ...

  47. Thanks to this giveaway, which I found over at Blueberry Moon, I have found your lovely site. WOW. I grew up spending my summers on a sand spit on Bainbridge Island in Puget Sound, Washington State. Our little cabin was built on pilings. Sometimes the tide was so high, we only had about 15 feet of beach in the front and the lagoon was all the way up under the back deck, where I slept. We collected oysters in the lagoon, and fished off the back deck. We dug clams and goeduck in the front, and waded in the changing tide to gather dungeness and rock crab. When I woke up in the morning, I put on my bathing suit, and lived in it until after dinner. The sand spit has been taken over by the wealthy, with megahouses. I can no longer go there. I need to keep my memories in my heart and mind.

  49. My favorite beach used to be Ocean City, NJ - I loved walking the Board walk and then hanging out on the sand all afternoon. I haven't lived in NJ for 20 years, though, so I've had to find a new favorite. Now I head to one of two places - Long Beach or Westport, WA. It depends on the time I have & my mood. If I want to "play" at the ocean, I head to Long Beach. If I'm more interested in just sitting, reflecting, journaling, etc., I go to Westport. Nothing better, more relaxing or rejuvenating then some time at the ocean...

  51. Oh I so want to go to The Apple Basket when I visit my mother in MD next time! My favorite beach is Crystal Beach in Galveston, TX, while my second favorite is (I think) Long Beach or Ilwaco, which I think is on the WA coast - it had black sand, which I'd never seen or heard of before. I love the green glass display - I've got some of my own & am currently waiting for the dining room/kitchen to be repainted, along with the china cabinet/hutch (yes, I want it painted as well!) before I can set out my pretties! All the Easter items on display look so yummilicious! Thank YOU and a big thanks to THE APPLE BASKET for this sweet giveaway! Leslie Anne

  54. Favorite beach....inlet beach, fl. I have watched my children grow from toddlers to sweet little ones at this beach. From umbrellas and toddler pools to boogie boards and skim boards! Over the past few years we have escaped there to get away from some very yucky stuff here at home. The beach (anywhere in the world) clears my thoughts, eases my mind, and makes me relax and realize just how important the little things are!

  64. In the spring my beach has the freshest blue water. The air is filled with gulls and cottonwood down. The oaks at the crest of the far dunes crown my autumn beach with russet and, joyously, the fair weather tourists are gone leaving the beach to us true lovers.

In the winter I inch my way over the crusted pier wondering at the fantastic ice formations and listening to the terrible roar of the wind driven sea ice. But nothing, nothing, tops summer. Seductive summers when I head due west over the swells, out the channel to select a spot a little further from the crowds. I love to pull up my kayak and flop down face down for a perfect 'sand nap' serenaded by wind, waves, the distant sound of children playing and that glorious summer sun. Ahhh, Lake Michigan, I'll always love you!

  65. Growing up my family always went to a beach on Vandenberg Air Force Base called "The Wall" (due to a large break wall). Although we lived in California near all the sun-bathing beaches, I preferred the rugged shoreline and driftwood strewn sand dunes of this beautiful beach. It was one of the first places I took all four of my children, so we all have happy memories of it. Now I live in Vancouver, Washington. I love the gorgeous green of the Pacific Northwest. However, I have decided to give my family room a beach makeover. I want just enough of a nostalgic beach theme to remind us of our treasured times as the wall.

  66. That is such a cute little sand bucket and I would love to have it for my beach inspired family room. My favorite beach is my hometown beach. 79. My favourite beach whenever I can visit, is at the end of a long cobbled street which winds its way downwards past centuries old cottages to the beach where smugglers of old celebrated their booty under beamed ceilings in the Inns as they sipped their rum.
It is Clovelly in Devon, England. When younger, I remember that donkeys would traverse the hill as the form of transport as no vehicles are allowed. This is the place of history, quaint tea shops and stories for the asking.
The bucket and spade which I dug for treasures, reminds of the very one in your giveaway. Even though I now live thousands of miles away, this Spring I will once more be travelling to Clovelly and relive my sandcastle days on the beaches of England.
