I Give Up

Thanks everyone for all of your wonderful well wishes for our son Bugs.  He was at the ophthalmologist's office bright and early this morning and they said that although he has a ways to go, his eye is healing!  So thank you for sending so many wonderful emails and good vibes his way!

You may have noticed that you haven't received a reply to your comments or emails and that would be because my desktop has once again gone to a place where no one can communicate with it!  A bad, bad land where computers rarely come back from without some intensive care or a transplant of some sort!

Now I know a lot of you just LOVE your laptops (Connie dear) and swear by them.  Well I don't, and I usually swear at mine, not by it!  So I'm going to be taking a little hiatus while Mr. Tide wrangles with the video card company and tries to sort all of this out.

I'm taking it as a sign to get some things done around here that need doing, and I might even make my bed every day, but don't hold your breath on that one.

In an effort to make myself feel better, I've bought enough flowers to fill this house and make it feel like springtime, even if it's been a little on the nippy side outdoors.  And after having lunch with a friend yesterday, I came home with yet another beautiful flower, she gave me a pot of tulips in the prettiest shade of tangerine.

Buying flowers has to be cheaper than therapy for blog withdrawal right?!  And I'll sit around sipping tea and wander around this place prettying things up a bit.

And I might also learn to slow down just a little so that I don't keep putting the wrong words into my posts...thank you Bird for catching my mistake.  I have to tell you that Mr. Tide and I both looked at the word pension and thought, why doesn't that look right?!  I've corrected it to penchant and I appreciate you letting me know.  I may be a writer but when our fingers are flying and we're tired, we writers love the fact that we have wonderful editors to double check us...Mr. Tide is now officially relieved of his editing duties since he's missed maniac and pension in my last 2 posts!!!  Somehow I think he's ok with being fired!

So for now, I will leave you with this pretty little gerbera daisy, because I give up!  Maybe I'll learn to like this dang laptop, but I'm an old dog friends and I have to say that I'm not loving learning these new tricks! ;-)

And thank you to everyone who has already entered my current Giveaway.  If you haven't yet, you can stop by HERE to enter.

Spread the Love...

  1. So sorry to hear of your technical troubles! OH so frustrating! I hope you will use your hiatus to take lots of beautiful pictures and share when you come back to blogland! (No pressure or anything!) Enjoy a little break and all your beautiful flowers to cheer you.

  2. This lovely vignette reminded me of my mother when I was a young child. Along with the rest of her ladies club, she would dress for their meetings including pill box hats and white gloves. As they discussed the business at hand, they would sip tea, the only times I ever saw mom drink hot tea. Of course, there was always a hanky in her purse and her favorite gift? Why milk glass! Thanks for bringing such a precious memory to me today.

As for laptops? No, nada, never, I just can't stand them! I've a very happy girl with my iMac and don't ever see myself with a laptop.

Sorry to see you have to take a break, but happy to see you surround yourself with flowers!

  3. Kat, dear, you can ease your transition to laptop life with a cordless mouse. I used one for the first few weeks that I had this new computer, and I soon gave it up. The touchpad is fine with me now. My only problem with the laptop is the difference in how photos display on this monitor ... sometimes I have to have The Husband pull up a photo for me to see if my formatting looks right on a 'real' computer.

I'm glad that Bugs' eye is on the mend. It's very important to have one's eyes, I have been told.

I love your arrangement with the flowers and all of the old-fashioney doo-dads. Tea cups and gloves and a hankie ... how dainty and imaginative. You have such a way with still lifes (or is it 'lives'? ... in light of your misspellings, perhaps you're not the person to ask.) :)

  4. Beautiful flowers Kat - and I'm with you on the portable devices, suffering a bad case of iPad neck - also noticed a tendency to stop breathing while using it in bed, due to a kink in my windpipe... Breathing is a GOOD idea.

Glad Bugs is on the mend~

  5. Computers! Sorry to hear about your troubles. Our computers must be gaining up on us because mine is going through something as well. Mattie Gray (dog) does most of my proofreading which explains a lot :)

  6. Hi! Love the flowers, am feeling overwhelmed today too, unfortunately I am making myself learn a few new tricks on the compute.s I can't get away from it today. My office is a total disaster area!

Just had to take a break for a second, and so glad that I did to stop by and smell the flowers. Have a great day enjoying a little spring time.

  7. Glad to hear Bugs is doing better. Beautiful pics as usual. One of the best things about Computer Genius working from home, is that when I get a virus, or whatever, he can always fix it for me. Hope your computer is on the mend soon.

  10. Well I for one LOVED your little "play on words" Kat. I knew exactly what you meant! My Mum had a wonderful way with words but (occasionally) she would slip up and pronouce something incorrectly. I would automatically correct her (like I would do with my kids!) and she would just smile and say "okay Miss Perfect!" I have never forgotten that. Love the flowers - so fresh and summery. ;)Sharyne PS If you pop over to my blog you will see my little post on Miss Molly.

  15. Kat, I'm so glad to hear Bugs in on the mend! He will remain in my daily prayers though. I'm sorry you are having computer issues! They are a blessing and sometimes they are not! I love that closeup picture of the pink Gerbera Daisy with the tea things in the background-just stunning!!

By the way Roamy made it to my house yesterday. I'm still under the weather but I will be taking him out for a walk and tour soon! Thanks for sending him to me-he is so cute!!

  16. If it makes you feel any better Joe spent 4 hours trying to get our wireless printer to work with his laptop to no avail. It made the desktop hook up far more appealing. I do like my laptop but who needs to print anyway? Your daisy is a lovely shade of pink. Rest up and I am glad your son is recovering.

  17. Oh, how well I know the probs that these lovely computers can give us. Oh the horror! lol! But taking a break from them is definitely necessary once in a while - not only for the mind but for the tookus......lol! Have a great little break, and we'll be right here when you get back! :)

  18. Flowers do wonders for the spirit. The gerber daisy is gorgeous. I've "fired" my husband from numerous duties--the first (and last) time he vacuumed, he sucked up a sock--I don't even think he did it on purpose. Have a great Wednesday. Mickie

  21. Can't tell you how many times I have types "to" instead of "too" or, in a business letter, I typed "peeked" instead of "peaked". And spell check never let's you know. The funniest one that went out in my organization was an official document talking about a "public entrance" but the author left out the "l". I don't think he ever lived that one down!

  22. Have an iMac (desktop) and have NEVER had one iota of a problem with it. I want an Apple laptop too, but the desktop will always be my first choice in doing my blogging. It just makes more sense since it holds a lot more photos.

  23. Oh my gosh, I stumbled on your blog and the minute I opened it, I was refreshed! Absolutely stunning, my dear. I love wandering around your cozy home, and having a virtual cup of tea! Thank you so much.
