Dream a Little Dream

I'm zooming around trying to get 2 stories done, and we have a contract on my parent's house...YAY!  So that means inspections and meeting with people to get everything nailed down, but we are so happy!  The people buying the house couldn't be more perfect, and I know my parents would be pleased, so you can't ask for more than that.  We've bought and sold a few houses in our time, so I try not to get too excited until everything is on the dotted line and we hand the keys over, so please say a little prayer for us that everything goes as smooth as silk.

Thanks so much for all of your wonderful comments on my last post about my not so pretty garage, it's good to know that I'm not alone!  And I apologize for not returning emails and comments, but I should be back on track after the holiday weekend.

Yesterday, I went down to the dock for a brief respite from everything else that is going on and like a good bloggy girl I took the camera with me.  I was pleasantly surprised by all of the sweet dragonflies that were having a grand time down by the water.  They are so fast, and their colors are just gorgeous!  I was able to capture a few types of blue ones (they had different patterns on their wings) and the brightest neon green ones, but the red ones eluded me...maybe next time!

I've put together a little video of these delicate creatures, who seemed to almost pose for me.  This video is dedicated to Jo...if you are reading this Jo, I hope these dragonflies will remind you of your husband and bring a smile to your face!

  1. Hello Kat,

I love dragonflies and you captured them beautifully! Great video! Love how one of the blue ones landed on your foot. In one of the parks I frequently walk, there is one area that seems to be a favorite spot for dragonflies and love to stop there and watch them.

I will pray all goes well during the sale of your parent's house.

  2. Hi Kat!
Love your photography, as usual! Could you tell me how you learned to add filters over your images. Is there somewhere on line to go to learn?

  3. Beautiful pics! Dragonflies are so pretty, but usually so hard to capture on film, because they move so fast. You captured them beautifully. Thanks for sharing.

  6. I don't think I have ever seen a red one here. Lots of blue ones, though by our pond. Love the shot of the green one. Don't think I have seen one that color either.

  8. Beautiful photos of the dragonflies Kat. They really are so pretty if you are lucky enough to really see them and you certainly captured their color and beauty.

  9. These photos are gorgeous. I love dragonflies - Lily has a white sheer fabric one hanging off her curtain pole. We have loads near us as we live next to a forest and there is a little pond right by the forest so they are always hovering over the pond. The kids love to look at them and they often fly in pairs.
Good luck with the house sale - I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

  10. I wasn't able to get a pic of a blue dragonfly, which I sorely wanted, today. But I got an orange one. Fingers crossed that the house is sold!

  13. Wonderful dragonflies! One summer we had a (what's the right word?) glut? of them, but most of the time I don't see even one, very odd. Love the French word - la libellule, SO French!

Fingers crossed for the house sale~

  14. Wondering where you loaded to/hosted your movie online. I don't see a title on your movie which YouTube always places on theirs. I used to be able to delete it but not anymore... Just curious. Oh. and LOVED the video.

  19. Oh Kat - I can't tell you what this meant to me! When I started reading and seeing the photos I thought how wonderful for you to see those dragonflies. I have only seen one so far this summer. Then I read your dedication and i started crying. Then I watched the video, and you chose Bette Midler, whom I just love, and I love that song, so this was simply a perfect gift for me today. It made me cry, but my heart is smiling! Thank you so much for thinking of me. I am deeply touched. God bless you, Sweet Friend.
