No Tricks, Just Treats Giveaway

This Halloween I won't be handing out candy, or even carving a pumpkin, which makes me sad.  When the kids were little, they got to each pick out a pumpkin design idea, most of which weren't in those pattern books you can find everywhere these days.

The requests ranged from eagles to animated characters and everything in between, and it allowed me to get my inner artist on and have fun creating something special for each of them.  In our old neighborhood, we had lots of kids come to the house to trick or treat, and I loved hearing them ooh and ahh over those fun pumpkin creations while I ooh'd and ahh'd back at their creative costumes.  I would spend hours on each pumpkin and then hustle to get the kids dressed, eat dinner, do homework, and then hit the neighborhood for some good old fashioned trick or treating.  A few of those years it was just me and the kids, as Mr. Tide was out of town for work.  I have no clue how I was so organized back then and seemingly so disorganized now...ahh youth!

I still decorate for Halloween, and the first year we moved here I even carved an elaborate pumpkin, which neither of the kids really seemed to care too much about.  And since we don't get any trick or treaters, because we live on a private lane where there aren't any young kids, well it just seems a little silly to go all out.  Or maybe I've just gotten lazy?!

So this year, in the spirit of treat or treating...blog style, I've decided to host a Giveaway.  Yup, come trick or treat here on my blog.  I will be giving away one of my 8 x 12 photos (or if you prefer a 5 x 7) to two of my readers.

All you have to do is visit my website by clicking HERE , pick out the photo you would like should you win, and then come back here and say trick or treat and tell me which image you would like using the file name on the bottom right of each photo (you have to click on the image in order to see the file name).  And if you've seen an image on my blog that isn't on my website, never fear, you can pick one of those too!

If you would like more chances to win, you can do any of the following:

1.  Add the Giveaway to your sidebar, and come back and leave a "separate" comment telling me you did so.

2.  Tweet or Facebook the Giveaway for another chance, don't forget to leave another comment letting me know.

The Giveaway is open to everyone!

I hope each of you has a very Happy Halloween and I will randomly draw both winners names on Friday and post their names that evening!

  3. I know what you mean about being so organized when our kids were young, and not so much now. It's because we HAD to be or we'd go nuts. I'm convinced of this!

I am loving your beach pictures, but I will admit I had a hard time accessing the photos. I had to sign in and then it looked like I was joining some kind of service. What could I be doing wrong?

    XO,
    Jane

  4. Hi Jane,

I'm sorry you had a problem looking at the photos. Did you maybe click on the download button instead of just clicking on the image itself? If you click on the download button, it will tell you that you don't have permission to download, etc. and it will look for a password. To look at the photos, you should just be able to click on one of the photos as they go by in the slideshow.

If you're not getting a slideshow, you may need to update the adobe flash software on your computer. If that's the problem, please let me know, and I can help you with that too.

    Thanks,

    Kat

  7. Kat, it is tooooooo hard to pick one. If I win I will have to toss a coin or something. I am really drawn to the one with the table and chairs out in Europe or the canoe picture. So pretty.

    Happy Halloween!

  17. Trick or Treat! It is nearly as difficult for me to choose one of your photos as for our little tricksters to choose which candy they wanted from the bowl! Your work is so good - the recent stills, the wildlife, the cathedral - all earn ah's! If I am chosen in the drawing, I have a perfect place for IMG 130, Pink Bicycle Heidelberg.jpg.

I'm also right there with you in the *once so organized* and now *what the heck happened to me*? I shake my fist at menopause for my troubles!

  19. I'm not entering this giveaway, because I've already won one of your gorgeous prints. I just wanted to say that we didn't carve pumpkins this year, either. I painted mine, the hubs was sick, and the boys didn't want to deal with pumpkin guts. Good luck to all the giveaway entrants! You capture such a special quality in each of your photos.

  21. We get trick-or-treaters, so we did hand out candy-but, it certainly isn't the same as it used to be. I also didn't carve my pumpkins and the kids that do come...we don't know them. So, I really just wanted it over. I do miss the days of little ones and the excitement of the holiday.

As for your giveaway...I think I always say the same photo is my favorite, I love the white pitcher with the white flowers.

Glad you liked the pictures of Zoe. She has certainly added some spark to a pretty quiet, dull house!

  22. We didn't get any trick or treaters, either! But here you are, giving out a lovely treat! All of you photos are incredible, but my favorite would have to be the image of the blue heron-IMG 5434. I love how you captured the reflection in the water, and the colors are gorgeous. I used to live in the Lowcountry, and I miss seeing the marsh grass and the pluff mudd. We live inland now, but some herons live in a pond near us.

Oh yea...Trick or Treat! heehee! Do you have any candy left? I can't eat sugar...any of it sugar free? lol HUGS! ♥

  24. Trick or Treat, Kat. Although I may be a little late to play, I would be honored if I won one of these beautiful prints. Your site is quite good, btw but I think I've told you that before.
