Has it really been almost a week since I last posted?!
I guess I've not had much to share this past week, and I've been extremely busy with work stuff.
I've been humming along with picture taking, writing, and cleaning...all the usual stuff.
It's all been a bit of a blur, much like these hummingbird pictures...why won't they stay still just long enough for me to capture their beauty?! Work, work, work...they have to do that to live, kind of like the rest of us I guess!
I captured these lovelies at dusk tonight as they flipped in and out of my neighbor's yard...you know, the sweet neighbor who doesn't think I'm crazy when I show up looking not so lovely but with my camera in hand! You gotta love a neighbor like that!
She loves these delicate little birds...the only birds who can fly backwards.
As they buzzed past my head as I tried to snap their picture I realized that it had been awhile since I had really slowed down to enjoy life and snap some fun pictures. We all need to do that from time to time, stop and smell the roses and also capture them!
I hope everyone's week is off to a good start...and here's a bit of nostalgia for those of you who grew up in the 70s! Until next time friends! :-)
I have a feeder hanging outside the sun room and I am refilling it weekly this year. Last year I was just taking it down and cleaning it and putting in fresh syrup and cleaning it again. You captured them in flight and that is hard to do. I have a couple of one on my feeder. I have yet to see the ruby throated one this year. Just females.
ReplyDeleteHi - Love those sweet little birds...beautiful photos - thanks for sharing and the mini-escape!
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday!
Linda
Aren't they the most amazing creatures? We have feeders front and back and I love the sound of their wings.
ReplyDeleteDon't work too hard - summer won't last forever!
I just love hummers!! We have some around here. I love your new header too!! Great photography!
ReplyDeleteI tried to capture a pic of a hummingbird feeding on my hostas, but wasn't fast enough with my camera. All I got were bumblebee pics. Gorgeuos pics! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love these little guys! I'm so jealous though ... I have not had one male come to my feeders! Also, love the song ....
ReplyDeleteIf you stop over at my place, I have a video where we get the little girls to eat from our hand!!! So cool!
Amazing photos of those little hummers! We have a ton of them zinging and zooming over our heads every evening during our happy hour on our deck. I have to fill those feeders once a week! Now - don't let the summer get away from you without enjoying it, girl! Slow down and smell the roses! lol!

OH these are wonderful photos, Kat...you really captured the motion beautifully!
ReplyDeleteIt really feels like summer doesn't it Kat?
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures, Kat. I wonder if it is because they burn so much energy whilst feeding that Hummingbirds have to eat pure sugar, or the other way round? Strange way to evolve!

ReplyDeleteI just love hummingbirds. Have not been so lucky in taking photos of them yet. They love my Bee Balm in the flower garden.
ReplyDeleteI would love for you to visit my blog at chestercountycottagegirl.blogspot.com.
Your blog is wonderful!
I adore hummers! I have been fortunate enough to hold two in my hands at different times in my life. Not so fortunate for the birds, but I was able to pick up trapped and exhausted birds and feed them nectar. As soon as they could smell the nectar in the spoon I was holding, their little tongues dart in and out and within minutes they recover and fly away.
ReplyDeleteMagical!

I go next door to watch hummers, too! I gave up on my feeder years ago, when I realized that I kept forgetting to keep it full and clean. Every year I try to tell myself that this year will be different, and I know it won't. It's the same story with bluebird houses.
ReplyDeleteAs soon as you admit that you can and should take control, you can run your life instead of your life running you ... at least that's what I'm telling myself. We'll see if it works. :)
You certainly captured them well Kat.
ReplyDeleteHope you are well. Haven't been reading too many blogs lately so I am here catching up!
I love hummingbirds....I don't have a feeder...but they love my petunias!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat photographs!!!
I always think that hummingbirds are little reminders of angels and fairies!
ReplyDeleteKat,
ReplyDeleteI am blown away by these pictures! I especially love the last few. Tell your neighbor I said thanks!
I think you captured them quite well. Your images are beautiful. I'm mesmerized by these tiny birds and love that I get to see them close up thanks to your lens. Ohmylanta...their eyes!

I love how you captured the birds. I have hummingbirds that come many times thruout the day and I've had no luck catching them. Maybe its time for a new camera????
ReplyDeleteI graduated HS in 1976 and that was one of my favorite songs! It brought back many a fond memory. I loved everything about seals and croft. Your hummingbird pictures are so cute.
ReplyDeleteHello my friend! I love your photos, I adore hummingbirds and love to watch them and no matter how many times you see them, they still fascinate me. :) I hope things went well last night and that you are doing good.

ReplyDeleteI enjoy your blog too!
Oh my gosh!!! your photos are amazing!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a talent you have.
Love these little birds. If I happen to wear a colorful headband while gardening, they are so tenacious, they will bump my headband.
Thank you for sharing these images.
Debbie
