On Point

Well it's been a month almost since I last posted.  And during that time I've been very busy with work obligations.  I have been keeping up with many of you though, and I've secretly been spying on you through your blogs, just in a quiet hiding in the shadows sort of way.

I had thought that I might abandon this little blog altogether and simply gracefully fade away as I threw myself headlong into my work, but as a few of you predicted, I did miss this little bloggy place I've created for myself over the past 2 years.

And so while I was away dipping my toe into new waters and new ventures, I made some decisions.

1.  I will run my blog, it will not run me.

2.  I will post less often and not feel stressed if I can't find the time, even if it means weeks pass by.

3.  I will visit my long list of blog favorites and not feel obligated to comment on those blogs, and in return I hope others will understand and feel free not to comment here but just enjoy the images.

4.  I will not feel guilty if I am unable to reply to each comment or email...I will need a bit of help with this one as "guilt" is my middle name.

5.  I will enjoy blogging for the safe haven that it was meant to be and not for the hectic crazy place we sometimes cause it to become. (and I'll keep it going for you, Mom and Dad W)

6.  And I will live each day to the fullest, follow my heart AND my gut, and I will do the things that make me happy...life is far too short to do anything but.

I hope you are all well and that life is treating you kindly.  Until next time...

  à bientôt

  9. Kat, I agree with all on your list. Your blog should be entertainment for you not work or something you have to do! Love your photos-absolutely beautiful!

  10. Hi Kat. So glad to hear from you again and totally understand. Is it like the seven year itch or something? I went through some of the same decisions/thoughts recently and was feeling very frustrated with my blog. I finally decided I would post when I wanted to, I would reply to comments when I had time, and I would comment on other's blogs when I had something to say. I thought long and hard about why I want to blog and I decided that I like the people I have met/meet, I like having an avenue for my photography, I like the push it has given me to get some things accomplished, and I like some of the opportunities that have come my way through blogging. It's all pretty small-scale stuff, but that's okay with me once I thought through my real reasons for blogging. Anyway, all this to say that I totally understand and just do what you can, when you want to and nothing more - and don't feel you have to reply to this either ;)

  11. Great words to blog by! We all have to work to find our own blogging balance ... sometimes it's posting a lot, sometimes a little, sometimes not at all. Our blog worlds are what we make them.

  13. Amen, and well said, my friend!
When blogging stops being fun and starts feeling like a chore, it's time to step away. I've done it, and I'm with you 100%

    XOXO,

  16. Elegant images!
I find that people are stressed by the seeming necessity to respond to comments by email. I don't do that, ever, unless I want to have a good email conversation. Blogging should be fun and relaxing....so stick to your new plan!

  17. I think many bloggers are feeling the same way. When we all started out blogging it was new and we had the energy to keep up, but that I think was a bit of a phase. Now there are so many blogs I think we all know we can't keep up. I read but don;t comment all the time now. I also take no offense if posts don;t get comments.

  20. We have come to
    the same fork in
    the road. I'm taking
it one step at a time.
    My mom and I spoke
    about this at length
on our trip but I am
    still wrestling with
    what feels right.
    Good luck as you
    traverse your new
    normal, Kat!

    Hugs,
    Suzanne
