We named our Aussie Guinness and occasionally lapsed in to Guinny when playing or cuddling. He was so intelligent that he never needed the "y" or "ie" ending to recognize his name, even though he was two or so when we got him and ours was a new name for him. Given that your little girl is of a similar remarkably intelligent breed, you need not limit yourself to the "y" or "ie"-ending names, BUT Lily Fiona McCool is what she looks like to me. You should get her a tartan for the Christmas Walk in Old Town---how precious would that be!BAEhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02533024700699363361noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7142741375345713188.post-69319254249637770672010-10-29T08:57:31.313-04:002010-10-29T08:57:31.313-04:00Kat, what a sweet cute puppy!!! My daught...Well here's a co-incidence for you. My daughter Kendall has the most delightful boyfriend who hails from County Galway. Alan is a great story teller (so typical of the Irish) and the other night over dinner he shared with us (in his beautiful Irish lilt) the story of the famous Irish Giant "Finn McCool". According to Irish folklore, Finn McCool and his wife managed to trick the famous Scottish Giant Benandonner (in his fight for supremacy) by dressing Finn McCool as a baby and putting him into a cradle. When the Scottish giant saw the size of the "baby" he was so shocked that he turned on his heels and raced over the sea back to Scotland! Now that Mrs McCool was obviously ONE very clever girl. Her name was "Oonagh". When I look at your gorgeous little girl - I can see that same smartness and intelligence in her eyes. "Oonagh" - daughter of "Finn McCool" - yes, I think that has a lovely ring about it! ;)SharyneGoldenValley50https://www.blogger.com/profile/05271282913634650123noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7142741375345713188.post-82254417634066153582010-10-29T07:02:12.086-04:002010-10-29T07:02:12.086-04:00Oh she's beautiful! I cannot introduce a puppy to the house with him being the age he is though. I was scanning some sites recently and came across a dachshund that needed to find a home and her birthday was the same day as Boogie's.....fate? I was really tempted but the timing was not ideal with other things going on. Your situation with the younger dog already makes so much sense. Wish I could help suggest a name but I am at a loss. I like Maggie as someone suggested. She is adorable! Good luck and keep your beautiful photos coming!ginahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01323536043479164234noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7142741375345713188.post-21592751562729596282010-10-29T05:33:12.006-04:002010-10-29T05:33:12.006-04:00Oh she is adorable. Our old dog was a border collie - we had him for 14 and a half years - I had no trouble naming him as I was in love with Matt Dillon at the time (I was 19!) plus we live in Wales so Dillon (not Dylan) it was. Dillon was super intelligen. We now have Woody the golden retriever who is adorable but compared to Dillon is the stupidest dog ever put on this earth. Such a lovely dog though and fantastic with children - we have been so lucky with both of them.
My husband also grew up with border collies and had one called Meg (Megan is a welsh name and the dog came from Wales) and another called Molly which really suited her. If you really want to go British you could call her Elizabeth (after the Queen) and shorten it to Betty!
Good luck choosing.
~Sam xSamantha2818https://www.blogger.com/profile/16696352521361347405noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7142741375345713188.post-91291516087051256752010-10-28T22:43:06.828-04:002010-10-28T22:43:06.828-04:00Emma popped into my head, but I second Clementine....Emma popped into my head, but I second Clementine.
